Poatan actually actually means "hard hand" or "stone hand" or "hand of stone"? He's probably the only UFC fighter who actually has a perfect nickname, then. I picked Izzy to win, due to his better experience at the UFC, but when I saw Poatan putting his Native necklace on, the night at the hotel before the fight... and hearing how much he has reflected on his people's history, which he didn't know any thing about until a coach, he said, asked him to look into whether he had Indigenous genealogy... I was quite moved by it.... His calmness and self-assurance ...about all the many big and small problems he's faced in life.... but he's sure that he beat Izzy twice before and he would do it again, THE SAME WAY: with a punch to Izzy's face! I wasn't so sure about that, that night... but Poatan could be the only fighter Izzy may never beat!

for those who dont know, this song is a recording by the Xavante indigenous tribe, it was the tribe that received Sepultura so they could connect with indigenous culture to record this album called Roots released in 1996. Roots presents extensive influences from Brazilian music, being its main characteristic is the use of tribal percussion. This song is very interesting because they didn't have electricity in the tribe so to record this track they used an eight-channel recorder and a truck battery to power the recorder

Sepultura's contribution to preservation and popularisation of Brazilian indigenous culture and people can't be ignored. In fact I wish they would have pursuited this musical direction Alan Lomax-wise and evolve it into a musical genre of its own. A Xavante troup headlining Glastonbury would fit right in (complete with Oasis-like fibbing about which clan has the better musicians).

Me and I am Czech. Jiri is super OP but with his style Alex is his worst possible matchup countering him flawesly. Its like sending bulbasaur against charizard. I admit even overall Alex is still a level better, Jiri needs to work on his defence against low kicks and hands up if he fights against super fast kickboxer with devastating knocking power. Maybe Alex will move to heavyweight and try to have title there, that would be the best. He is now 36 and on his peak, cannot get any better. Jiri is 31 still has space to grow to total mastery. Will be watching both of them with a great interest.

You guys should check Sepultura. It's a brazilian metal band. One of the pioneers and inspired many new bands in that time like Slipknot, for exemple. This song represents our natives sings to go to war. In Brazil we had (had, cuz a lot of them was decimaded, just like in USA) many native tribes in the whole land, including in the coast, where we had Tupis, Guaranis. The Tupiniquims was the ones that had received the Portugueses around 1500. They (the Tupiniquims) was mostly find in the southeast coast of the Brasil, especially in the coast where we all known now nowdays as São Paulo, Espirito Santo, Rio de Janeiro and more. Some contexte, so you guys can have some deep info about Poatan too.

This song was recorded with the Xavante tribe, Poatan has ancestry from the Pataxó tribe. However, the greatest indigenous warriors Brazil has ever had were from the Goitacá tribe.

Alex Pereira's entrance music is deeply rooted in his indigenous culture, symbolizing unity with nature, animals, and the stars, and honoring his ancestors. The performance features rhythmic drumming and the sounds of the jungle, accompanied by holographic animals like the jaguar and eagle, representing strength and vision. The stars above shift to form ancient patterns, connecting him to the cosmos. This ritual embodies his heritage, showcasing his strength, oneness with the universe
