I watch this video periodically, as I too love to drum some Opeth tunes. But I’m always deeply impressed by Rudingers set up and style. It’s easy to miss if you don’t drum, but the shit he does with two hihats is super impressive. That’s one of the more difficult things to get down, swapping hats on both feet. Choking hats on both feet with any sort of fluid motion. Most drummers never even attempt to learn or perfect any of this but Alex was out here a decade ago just blowing this shit away. 10/10!

I mean, seriously. Where to begin? What a great execution. Flawless. Somebody mentioned the beautiful sound of the recording of drums, and I totally agree with the remark. Axenrot's style is so exceptional that I always thought - up until now - that covering accurately his drum tracks was nothing short of impossible, and this guy has proved me wrong. I would love to see you cover Opeth's Porcelain Heart, particularly the fills and grooves at the beggining of that song. Thank you for posting this.

I can not believe how many good drummers I have listened to today as someone sent me a link to the new Opeth song Sorceress. I really like the drums on that song. It is 5 mins long but seems to have much more going on it with great ride patterns, rudiment heavy fills and a nice fat groove too.

Not a drummer, been a guitar player my whole life, and even I have to stand in awe of this mans sheer talent and dedication. As a guitar player, I only need to focus on synchronizing two limbs and that's hard enough lol seriously though, the dedication it takes to scrutinize minutes of complex tracks with changing time signatures and to then go on and replicate it 100% is truly amazing. People can hitch about him having the music in front of him, but I'd like to them try to memorize 8 minutes of rapidly changing beats and insane fills.
