I’m not deep into Metal. Big Slipknot fan and I was into metal in the 2000’s a lot more… but my gutterals are just like Alex’s. The difference between him and say Corey (who I learned to scream from) is mostly mouth positioning or “shaping”. Alex closes his mouth a lot more and makes his tongue into the “hot dog bun” shape. It makes the lows sound like they are in a tunnel and that’s where all that extra woooof is coming from. Alex uses this mouth position so that he can relax a little bit more and sustain his voice with lower volumes. Personally I prefer the more open mouth sound like Corey (more pure) but it can literally cause injury if you’re not careful. Probably the reason Alex uses the mouth tunnel more than vocal chords(voice).

You're probably good just have a different style he uses more of a lower mid with a lot of projection they can be quiet and still really good as long as it's low and deep and is coming from the diaphragm I do vocals myself and u always used to put myself down after seeing videos like this but you gotta realize maybe you don't have you don't have the voice for growls like this
