Volk can’t come to reality that Ilia is actually really skilled. Since their fight and even before it every match up that Ilia was in that Volk had to predict he’s always just given Ilia a punchers chance like he’s got no skill at all and is a fluke ko artist

But he really isn't that great. He just has heavy hands for a featherweight. Volk isn't going to knock anyone out so in their last fight while Volk had to dodge and pepper him for 5 rounds without getting clipped (which he was doing successfully, he was winning until he...well wasn't lol) Ilia only had to land one big shot on an already wounded animal in Volk. Volk's turnaround was too quick, it's clear his chin hadn't recovered and it made Ilia look like a world beater. Max has an iron chin, I don't see Ilia knocking him out and I don't see Ilia outworking and outstriking him. So many people will come to this conclusion AFTER the fight but I'll have already cashed my ticket. Max by decision.

Even if Max wins, that only sets up Volk for a rematch with Topuria. The UFC isn't going to be so eager to have him face off with Max again, at least not yet. They're better off putting together a few other matchups to mix it up a bit. Volk vs. Topuria 2. Holloway vs. Lopez. Sterling vs. Ortega. Throw Rodriguez in there somewhere. Personally, I hope Topuria loses so he can go against other top featherweights like Ortega and Rodriguez. There's a bunch of good potential bouts in this division.
