SYM is definitely an underrated game imo I hear people talk about HTCP, No Mercy, SvR 2006 and 2007. But not nearly enough people give praise to SYM it could easily be considered one of the top 10 wrestling games along with the other greats.

I remember what made me so excited about playing SYM when it came out was that it was the first time in the (then) modern PlayStation era where you could finally play with Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Kevin Nash, Booker T, DDP, RVD in a WWF/E game amd put them against Stone Cold, the Rock, Triple H and Undertaker in dream matches.

As much as I love Here Comes The Pain I love Shut Your Mouth even more. Free roaming backstage 2 years of the season mode rather than just one King Of The Ring mode in Exhibition what's not to love?

hctp does have one year but that one year can expand thanks to the multiple branhing paths u an go. it makes it feel like more than one year when u explore multiple directions that u didnt choose.

HCTP was awesome, but I preferred Shut your mouth over Here Comes The Pain also. 1:)The Character models, graphics, and animations in Shut your mouth were superior and felt more original and authentic! 2:)The Season Mode in Shut your mouth was a year longer, and their was more branches and more options, plus theirs a free roam mode for you to move around. The only downside is that it has to be in first person, but HCTP, theirs no free roam mode. Its cool that you can still interact with ppl backstage, but you can't roam around backstage like you cam in The Shut Your Mouth Season Mode. 3.)The backstage environments were better and more idealistic while The HCTP backstage environments [tho still fun] were a little over the top for a wrestling game. A Helicopter???... Climbing up 2 Story Buildings and jumping off and crashing thru cars was a little more than necessary for a wrestling game, and like 90% of the time, ur just gonna miss and instead crash and burn! 😅🤦🏾‍♂ 4:)Submissions can not be broken up in HCTP! In "Shut Your Mouth" you can find multiple creative ways to either knock out or distract the referee to prevent them from counting the pinfall or submission in order to keep the match going, but in Here Comes The Pain, The Referee will counter all of your moves. sometimes ur also gonna wanna K.O The Ref so that you, your partner, or manager can come in the ring with a weapon and take advantage, but you can't do that in HCTP bcuz of the ref who will counter 99% of ur moves, no matter what angle u come at him from.

I'm surprised nobody mentions HCTP's elephant in the room that hinders the game (at least for me) which is the completely unbalanced overalls. Let's say you want to do Eddie vs Lesnar at No Way Out 2004... You play with Eddie and luckily you'll get him in the fifth or sixth frog splash lol

Shut Your Mouth is the Greatest Wrestling Game Ever! It has arguably the best roster in a wrestling game, Wrestlers from WWE, WCW and ECW in 1 game. What is cooler than that? So much polish, the wrestling is fun (although I do like the chain wrestling physics in Just Bring It!).
