That death metal guy is doing nothing impressive with his bass. He's playing that stupid riff over and over, and contributing nothing sensible in terms of chord progression or harmony. Playing random atonal 16th lines on bass with no sense of harmonic movement isn't a feat in any capacity. This is embarrassing, and Victor and the other jazz guy are basically fooling and kidding around with this doofus. Put that guy playing any jazz standard and he would be completely out of his element.

@@ArturoSenni1257 atonal, huh? Its a B diminished groove. He can't really just switch it up without the other guys getting lost. Plus, for you to say that Alex added nothing when literally all Steve Bailey did was play pointless harmonics while being completely out of key is laughable at best. Harp on Bailey, not Webster.
@ArturoSenni12574 жыл бұрын
@@tommyellis7728 Who sets up the foundation for what is played in a jam? Alex Webster, who is in a role of the bassist. Who should provide groove, nuance, dynamic and space for other people to play to. He is playing straight 16th notes, in a scale that is symmetrical (a.k.a diminished), slathered in the smudge of a distortion pedal - so not exactly all that effective in leveraging the other players any meaningful harmonic movement or structure to play with, would you think :D? I mean let's get real here: If you have Victor Wooten on stage, and the only thing you're able to do is stifle any groove, nuance or progression from a jam onstage, than I think it's a pretty good testament for your uselessness as a musician. Alex Webster is a fucking joke. Give me a break, dear child... Alex Webster is the definition of a snot faced teenager, who never grew out of his cargo shorts brutal death metal phase, and is now a grown adult man embarrassing himself onstage with real musicians and beautiful expressionists of their respective instruments. I know you have to be a "metalhead", to be this daft, but still, I beckon you with a question; point me a melody in Alex Websters playing, and I'll give you a trophy. Good luck : D.

All steve could add was some errie korn sounding notes now n then. Alex was very busy but yet simple for corpse music. Victor was great improvising with the busy webster line.
