Alexa Chung Reacts to her Past Hairstyles - Lockdown Locks

It's time to let our locks down whilst in lockdown, and I know a whole lot of people are learning how to cut their own hair at home. So I thought I would Zoom call my friend and faithful hair stylist @George Northwood for a consultation, which happens to include a review of some of my past haircuts.

As a hairdresser I'm so taken with George, think he's fabulous. Many male hair stylists can have rather big ego's, especially those frequented by A listers & the so called 'in crowd" for their hair. George comes across as being relaxed, self-confident, an excellent hairdresser & just a genuine bloke. Hasn't got the attitude of he's Mr Cool, the greatest hairstist around & does so & so's hair.

So glad George said not to cut layers to make hair look fuller - I have fine wavy hair similar to Alexa's and hairdressers always want to layer it but then it just fluffs outwards 😠🤬 One length works much better for me! It's only taken me 40 years to realise! Luckily I cut my own hair now so can do what I like 👍

HAIR FACTS: Fine is the texture. Thin/thick is How Much Hair. You and I both have Fine Thick hair. Get it? We're lucky as long as we're careful with cleansing and styling, Less is More.

Love the few tips in this video! I have thin hair and it's always a struggle to make it grow long in a cool way. And he's right, layers don't work for my hair type. It's sad but I learned to accept that I can't grow my hair longer than my collarbone area. It just won't work. You both are great together, pure charisma! xoxo

I THINK it might be because people bring in unattainable pictures and get upset if they didn't look exactly the same? Personally I always bring in a photo (or few!) because it helps my hairdresser and I figure out what I like about the pic, which we then try to create with my hair. I find this really helps with the "hairdresser" vs "normal people" language differences too.
