What a horrible thing to go through as a mom, it's bad enough when your child is hurt but to accidentally cause it is heartbreaking. My prayers go out to all of for a speedy recovery physically AND mentally.

@@hellobecky84 they defintely are! Carlos and Alexa said Kingston is already running around like nothing ever happened. I cant believe the people saying she shut the door out of rage/being angry and shut the door on her sons finger on purpose. Its like are you serious? Accidents happen ALL THE TIME. It would have been very easy for her to not notice her sons fingers were in the door hinge. Kids put their fingers/anything in places that they aren't supposed to be in all the time

First off so glad he’s okay and my heart sincerely goes out to them all. This has always been a fear of mine and I highly recommend using pool noodles if you have toddlers or soon to be toddlers. They work really great. Just cut them in half long ways and place on both sides of the door. You can even use it underneath the door if you have a large enough gap between the door and the floor. It can work as a doorstop if you have carpet, but most likely they will use their baby strength and still push it closed but they won’t be able to close it super fast. The noodle by the hinge will allow enough space to prevent pinching if the door closes, but it won’t close all the way. The door will just bounce back. You can also purchase bumpers online instead of using noodles and there are companies that make accordion like protectors that blocks the gap by the hinge completely, and you can still close the door if you don’t want to always have to remember to put the bumper on.

I also had my son’s finger in the hinge when he was only 4 months old and it was pinched flat I couldn’t get it out. I screamed so much, called the ambulance to come and help. I tried opening the cabinet door but it squished his finger even more, I didn’t know how a hinge worked - i closed the door finally and his finger got freed. It was the worst day of my life knowing I wasn’t able react calmly. Luckily his finger healed.

When my almost 3 year old was 1 the same thing happened minus losing some finger. His dad was trying to shut bathroom door and he didn't realize son had hand on door and he was wondering why it wasn't Closing and did it a couple more times until my son started crying. We were so lucky he was ok by some miracle. Dad felt so bad. She is so lucky she has a supportive husband because had I accidentally done this. My fiancé would never let me live that down

So traumatic at the time cause big brother felt so bad and baby was screaming in pain. 2 years later and he finger has a scare but it fine!! Same thing happened to me 40 years ago when I was babysitting a little girl. She had her fingers in the screen door in where the hinges were and I didn't know it and shut the door. Then she started screaming and I open the door and her finger was sliced and she had to get stitches it was really bad. And I felt awful! I will never forget it. Anytime there are children around I always look before I shut the door to make sure there are no fingers.

I remember an accident that my sister had with my youngest nephew when he was about 18 months. My sister was giving him a bath and she picked him up and slipt on water outside the bathtub, my nephew who was in her arms fell face first on the side of the bathtub and bleed so bad everyone in the house was freaking out. Now 10 years later my nephew still has a mark on his lip from the stitches and my sister took a long time to forgive herself.

My oldest kids would manage to close the door hinge on my youngest child when she was between 2-5 yrs old. It happened so many times I thought surely her lil finger is coming off soon. Luckily it did not and everyone eventually learned to pay attention before closing/opening doors. Even opening the door can create a smash injury if their finger is near the gap of the door frame and door. 😬
