I'm in France, and your show has become pretty magnificent after sampling the the original Coke Studio in Pakistan. Although born and raised in Europe, I enjoy the elegant restraint in Pakistani and Persian music. I chalk it up to Islamic influence, looking inside to test God's current. Your diplomatic skills are marvelous as is your effervescence. Keep it up, Alexa. I'm really glad that we young people have the opportunity to listen to such wonderful pieces.

So, actually that’s not scat, it is just more than 10,000 hrs of practice. Those were just 8 basic music notes(octave), he sang at the end. He is simply amazing.

For a different feel song please react to "Rockstar by Ali Zafar" from Coke Studio and there are some other Pakistani music forums like Nescafe Basement (it focuses mainly on young talent fresh from college and just starting and feat. them with with experienced musicians/singers and producer) you can react to its songs "AADAT/BHANWARAY INSTRUMENTAL" and also Pepsi Battle of the Bands song like "Jilawatan", its a rock song. P.S: Please turn on the subtitles as coke studio songs focus a lot on poetry its like telling a story hats why they are long too, almost all coke studio songs have subtitles.

the jazz version of what ustaad rahat fateh ali khan was doing is called scat but that's a very narrow way of explaining what he was doing... it's called "Raag" it's a series of notes designed to illicit emotion and impact and are developed based off the beat of the song and the preceding and following lyrics. if you want to get an idea of how far Rahat Fateh Ali Khan can take this check out his other video with Aabida perveen on coke studio called Chaap Tilak...

That last bit is called ‘Lehkaari’. It’s where you take a Raag(melodic framework) and almost freestyle with it. Whilst it may seem odd at first, only a select few in the world can actually pull it off. Right now I think Rahat is the only living being that can do it at that level. It is basically the boss level of music. And Rahat’s uncle, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan was the greatest at it. Tbh, Nusrat is the greatest artist of the last century in my humble opinion. As I feel even that is an understatement lol
