Can I just say that Farrel was great at displaying his affection for Hephaestion? Especially when he said "I will avenge you and follow you down to the House of Death". Something I wish they showed in 'Troy' from Achilles to Patroclus.
@AdinaIspas5 жыл бұрын
Yes! He acted the role almost as if shy... and I get that very well, for someone who was so driven like Alexander, when it comes to the one he loves he turns coy because of how close it feels. House of Death... lol they were such geeks! Do check out when the Amphipolis tomb will open in 2020...

It was wrong of Brad Pitt to take the part if he was unwilling to play the role as needed! As for Farrell & Leto they did what they could with what they had. It was Oliver Stone that dropped the ball big time Alexander and Hephaestion were lovers and best friends. Oliver Stone should have showed that.
@AdinaIspas5 жыл бұрын
Brad Pitt played Vampires so I don't think he was the problem. Hollywood usually doesn't get these relationships, makes them all GI Joes for the most part. That's why I'm in awe of Oliver Stone with this. It feels like having stepped into a fanfiction, and that's pure magic.

ITS AMAZING HOW FAR RUMOURS CAN GO AND WHAT HUMANS THRIVE ON. FOR THOUSANDS OF YEARS. RUMOURS, EXAGGERATED Within the workplace, at home, at sporting clubs and events. GUESS WHAT GUYS? I HEARD THE OTHER DAY THAT ROBERT WAS GIVEN HIS THIRD AND FINAL WARNING THATS THREE WRITTEN WARNINGS. HE'S a gonna man. IT TURNED OUT HE HASNT RECEIVED ANY WRITTEN WARNINGS. So rumours is I would say half of the crap world wide that us humans make up for Kicks. ITS CALLED MEDIA And not having a dig at the media but we all know that there's truth and EXAGGERATED STORIES THEY WERE THE BEST OF MATES AND GREW UP TOGETHER, TAUGHT BY THE SAME TEACHERS / Philosophers. They slaughtered lions and tigers for kicks. Does this mean that they were GAY AND LOVERS. JUST TO REMIND YOU, IT WAS FORBIDDEN AS A MILITARY LEADER IN THE MAKETHNON ARMY MACEDON ARMY TO LEAD AN ARMY IF YOU WERE GAY. FORBIDDEN. IM Not saying that in the ancient world there were no gays but thus was a golden rule in this army. When two blokes are really good mates, do they not hug or put an arm over the other ones shoulder WHEN THEY ARE INTOXICATED RUMOURS AND RIGHT NOW I CAN MAKE UP A THOUSAND AND THEY WILL MAKE IT RIGHT AROUND THE WORLD 🌍

Too bad they mess Troy up all because Brad Pitt isn't comfortable enough with his wn sexuality to play a bisexual man in love with Patroclis, and have him portrayed as Achilles lover, not his friggnin cousin! At least Farrell & Leto had the balls to play the characrets as they were, and they were bisexual!

So... I did. I ordered the movie, the super long cut that is over 3h. Now that I've watched you video a couple of more times, I wanted to say a bit more. This vid really is a master piece. The song has a phantasmagoric nature, and your video perfectly conveys this. Seriously, watching it puts me in a trance-like state, I get totally sucked into it, and there is nothing but the sound and the colours of that video. It really is the editing that does the trick for me. The change between black/white and brightly coloured scenes. Masterful colouring on your side there! I especially love how you tease out the yellows, cyans and reds and use gorgeous bloom effects. It looks so vivid!! And the wonderful transitions your use, their timing and the style of transition go perfectly with the music. I don't know what effect that is you are using to insert the "flickering script" (urgh, I wish I knew), but it works perfectly. The voice-over and the Achilles/Patroclus comparisons are spot on and heart breaking. The only bit of "criticism" I have is the that the voice overs tend to be a little too low in volume compared to the music, which makes it hard to understand what is being said at times if you don't already know the lines. But this really is a miiiinor thing.

Fun fact. Achillies and Patroclus were in fact Not lovers. In the original story they were both raised by his mother and grew up as brothers. In the original story there was no sexuality in their relationship because they saw each other as brothers. Fact. Another fun fact is that the only thing about Alexander and Hephaestions relationship, and it's an assumption, as to the nature of their relationship being homosexual is that there's mention in the story that no one could beat Alexander in a contest except Hephaestions thighs. There is a thing called Greco wrestling and they were trained in it from a young age and this is likely a reference to that. There's only one other passage in the history of his life that could elude to an attraction to other men and that is he watched a dance performed by a eunuch named Boagoas or something and the passage states Alexander kissed him for his performance. That's it. This is where everyone gets the idea that he was so attracted to men. Boagoas was one of Darius unuchs and as a consequence of conquest he inherited his harem which is how he came to know Boagoas apparently. There's also the instance where Alexander massacred the sacred band of thebes to make and example out of them He wasnt gay or bisexual or even heterosexual in any modern sense. Sexuality was completely different in the classical period. I think it's more important to have a look at the man himself and the adversity he overcame. Rather than be so obsessed with what he did and who he did it with in his own privacy. If you find yourself obsessed with what other people do to get their rocks off I find it to be primitive and sick headed.

Hi. There comes a time, when you have to deal with these issues we have while growing up. I like the purity too. But here is what I know, because knowledge is important in everything: The gay identity only exists if strong women push for it, and recognize it in men. That is the purpose of the ancient stories like Iliad. As an asexual person I can tell you that "friendship" is not what fuels this high level of purity and commitment in a relationship: it is *very* sexual, just masked by gestures which are not yet decoded. For example, the many embraces they share. The words and the passion in their eyes ("Take the whole world without regretting it" "Like a deer listening in the wind, you strike me"). You don't need to "have sex" or be called "gay" for the sexual relationship to be real. It is an energy surrounding the person. But when Alexander pulls away from Hephaistion and marries a woman (or takes another male lover, a Persian boy - this is clear in history), you can feel it that it hurts them both... so it's revealed as something very real, which is more than friendship (or even than our modern recognition of queerness in another person we appreciate 'platonically'). The gay identity was different in the ancient world than today, because for one thing, most men of Greece did not consider "gayness" was personal. They believed that ALL men should be educated in politics via homoeroticism, and that passion (sex) should only very seldom be used, when really necessary and conducive to better friendships... LOL. It was a system of controlling and containing anything deemed to be "female" to certain roles, so they were very obsessed with "who tops and who bottoms" in the relationship. When some gay men found that they did want to marry each other, they were scorned like "weak"... like they're "too attached" because of the sexual passion. Therefore, relationships like this Heroic Tradition, where the men are equals and there is no hierarchy, gave critics a huge headache... They conclude that it can't be erotic, because they're "too equal" so it can never be like heterosexual romance - LMAO... Yup, the woman is not people. ;-D In reality, you can never truly love someone who is not your equal. The connection with your Mate is what enables you to have better friendships with other people, so as not to use them. But you are not "using" your Mate if you give in to the connection itself. That fear is just masculinity keeping the brain afloat, above everything that really matters. So I was amused by Alexander telling Hephaistion to "FIGHT" when he's dying... that's a very masculine reaction, when he should have said, "Please forgive me for hurting you, I just want to grow old with you because I love you and I'm yours." The purpose of videos like these, which highlight this special connection, is to fuel that Fire we can all feel inside, about our connection to our Mates and compassion for others. There is huge effort that goes into them, so it's a process of personal devotion, which cannot be repaid with the idea of mere "friendship" from 2000+ years ago. The only real "best friend" is supposed to be one's husband, but this has been lost in our world because of lack of equality (as said before) so we no longer look for this ultimate friend in our spouses... which is a shame. Again, knowledge is everything, if we really want to be genuine.

Oh dumb witch to everything About Alexander and Bagoy: “When Alexander arrived at the royal palace in Gedrosia, he again decided to arrange festivities for his soldiers. They say that he looked drunkenly at the competition of choirs. His favorite Bagoy was the winner in the dance; in all his decoration he went through the theater and sat near the king. The Macedonians, at the sight of this, began to applaud and shouted, demanding that the king kiss him before he really hugged and kissed him ”(Plutarch, 67) So, what essentially happened - after another victory, Alexander rolled up a corporate party on which a singer dressed in a woman sang. In order to correctly understand what the episode was, mentally replace Alexander with the director of a company, and Bagoy with Verka Serdyuchka (Borya Moiseeva), following the results of his speech, Verka sits down to the head, the employee laugh and “demand” to kiss him. Why do not I think that Plutarch put a sexual context in this episode? It's simple, when it comes to Alexander and homosexual hints, Plutarch tells us much more interesting stories. and which sources testify in favor of his bisexuality, and which ones favor heterosexuality? And here we can already make a more definite conclusion - our most reliable sources (moreover, their majority) unequivocally say that Alexander loved women only, while evidence of his bisexuality goes back to the least reliable sources: collections of jokes and stories Eliana and Athenaeus, "Iliad Now about Alexander and Hephaestion: A box was brought to Alexander, which seemed to take apart the property seized from Darius as the most valuable thing of all that fell into the hands of the winners. Alexander asked his friends what value they would advise putting in this box. Some said one thing, others said another, but the king said that he would keep the Iliad in it. This is evidenced by many trustworthy individuals. If it is true that, referring to Heraclides, the Alexandrians report, Homer turned out to be a necessary and useful companion for Alexander on the campaign. (Alexander and Caesar, XXVI) Thus, if Alexander made any sense in laying wreaths on the grave of Achilles, he clearly did not relate to the love affair of famous heroes, but to the glory of Achilles quote "we love Alexander, as Patroclus was loved by Achilles" you ask? Wikipedia bashfully does not indicate the source (and for good reason), because this is a fragment of the “Colorful Tales” by Claudius Elian (XII, 7) or, more simply, a collection of jokes
