I would just add that Malofeev had a magical year in 2016 being only 14. He also had a caring conductor in this performance and this all means something to the soloist. I am glad he won. No one can take this from him. I hope he knows.

Prokofiev kinda leaves me speechless. I’m amazed how something so surrealistic in concept is also beautifully lyrical and soulful. All his pieces are so engaging on all levels of enjoyment and appreciation. He is surely among the top five of contemporary classical composers(not to mention his “classical” symphony). Malofeev takes it over the top in all its blazing glory. At age fourteen his grasp of such a complex masterpiece insures his prominence among the top musicians of the world. Can only imagine his interpretation of the first movement. Great stuff! PWG

Joseph Durán. Maybe I am really mistaken, but I find Alexander at 14 suggesting more than other pianists in their maturity. I was comparing this concert with the ones of famous pianists ant truly believe that there is something special in his way of playing. What is it? What a strange competition is this? The first candidate did not get any attention, And the Mozart concerto played by the girl was suddenly cut off. Of course Alexander was the best candidate, but would advise these 'skipped' candidates to participate in next years Elizabeth competition in Brussels.

I must say that of the 4 top young pianot virtuoso pianist, Alexander certainly performs the most important concert pieces. His selections are all major pieces and all in one sections or movement are a real challenge to event he most skilled performers. Alexander - to your left. It is standing, watching you. It is waiting for your fingers to touch the ivory keys. Make it play Alexander. It will be a whole new world for you. It is not one or the other..... You have thinned out a lot - You look much better.
