If I was at that concert, after the first mvmt I would have been tempted to give Alexander a standing ovation!! And then the dreamy, beautiful second mvmt, performed brilliantly by all soloists, and the third mvmt...so fascinating to watch Alexander perform it! Wow! This really should have a million views!

People make comparisons with the greats of the past.but to my mind Alexander has already demonstrated that as a teenager he has attained a degree of excellence that will rarely be matched and likely never exceeded. I think critic’s estimates of future improvements will be in reality indicative of different aspects of perfection.

In 1956 I watched Emil Gilels play this in London. At the end of the first movement there was spontaneous applause and he took a bow before continuing. This is the best performance I have ever heard, including Gilels! 15 years old, incredible!

It is extraordinary how this young man’s piano performances give rise to such heights of enthusiasm and pleasure in his audiences. Despite the audio/video being rather poor, the music is fantastic. Alexander, naturally, never disappoints, but a mention must be made for the amazing performance by the lead violin and cello. Altogether 50 minutes spent in total bliss! Bravo!

It is good to hear the last movement played at exactly the speed that its composer would have wanted - so Alexander was able to bring out all its nuances and yet lose nothing of its verve, drama and excitement.

What an exhilarating experience to hear a 16 - year old young man play this concerto as good as it can get. This extremely difficult - to - play concerto can truly take one's breath away and satisfy the soul in a way that can easily make one part with reality, and soar on the wings of Alexander's playing to heights never attained before. Superb! This Concerto is far more difficult than the earlier one. Alexander just keeps getting better and better and is probably among the top 10 greatest living pianists.His 2nd movement is absolutely gorgeous with expressive insights that are in his very being. Bravo!

Another stunning performance! At minute 35 I was reminded of Beethoven (who influenced whom?), with violin #1 and cello #1 giving amazing solos. Too bad there was only one camera and the sound is weak. Alexander is a virtuoso at his young age. Bring us more Sasha!

Another sensational performance! Alexander's performance on the cadenza matches that of his superb and emotional rendition in one of the Rach 3 performances which have been available here. This concerto is not nearly as familiar to me but should become so as I listen to this often. I too would love to see him in person and had plans for Ravinia last summer. At 92 I may have to be satisfied with these, and hope they continue.

Excellent performance, as always, by Malofeev... the suport from the orchestra as a whole is fantastic, in partucular the introit to the 2nd movement by the 1st violin and the excellent cello, which was repeated in the end of the 2nd movement .... superb!!!
