Agree. Except, as an organist myself, who appreciate* the work and effort needed to play this piece, and who use* the language somewhat pedantically, knowing the subject for appreciating (and indeed using) is "I" and not "organist", I do not talk of an organist who appreciates (because that would be another organist, and third person).

@@beaufighter245 You wrote, "as an organist, who appreciates the work....". The subject of the sentence is "I", even though the pronoun is omitted. You would not write, "I appreciates". You would write "I appreciate". In effect you are saying "(I) as an organist, who appreciate...". The subject of the sentence is NOT "organist". "Organist" is what you are, which in this sentence is the omitted first person "I" since you are speaking to us.

My husband and I happened to come upon him playing this very piece in a Toronto subway station, people stupidly rushing past him while the music of the heavens surrounded us. I was in tears, it was so powerfully beautiful. We were fortunate to hear him in concert a couple years later. His passing was a great loss to all of us.

I remember a similar tale (I wan't there) of the world renown violinist Joshua Bell a number of years ago busking in the New York metro. It was some sort of 'experiment' to see how many people a) stopped to listen and b) how many people donated to his 'hat'. It transpired that over the hour or so he played, and can you even begin to imagine what he would have sounded like, i.e. NOT your typical busker, the only person who stopped was a young, 10'ish.y.o., girl(with her mum) for TEN SECONDS, and overall he made less than $2!!! I may not have known who he was but if someone of that virtuosity, whatever the instrument, was playing in the subway I'd have camped there until they finished.

Imagine a missionary in early times’ first cognizance of a means to import such a “fixed” aspect of European “high church” into the most remote and primitive corners of the earth; NOT from a 64 foot pipe, but an instrument the size and weight of a suitcase, in the right hands, can perform just such a miracle, and both savanna and jungle may now be graced with everything from Handel’s “Messiah” to appropriate accompaniment for “Adeste Fidelis”… A game-changer by any definition.

As a professional musician, this was NOT what I expected. I am FLABBERGASTED listening to this young man! His technique, his dynamics, his "interpretation" of this piece is above reproach. Someone his age--on an accordion, no less!! If he has, in fact, passed--He's not just with God, he's with Bach!! Unbelievable. 😢

Brilliant. Never thought that it might even be possible to get the sound from the Toccata squeezed out of an accordion... I'm speechless.
@jimshaver77229 күн бұрын
Of the many accordion renditions on KZbin this is the best. His tempo is spot on and the playing is crisp and precise. I've played this many times now and still come back for more.

I would bet, it's humanly impossible to preform such complicated movements with our fingers; each hand independent of the other! I watch this and I still don't believe it. Such was his genius!! I've heard of his passing and this is such a loss to us all. RIP Alexander Sevastian ❤❤❤

The accordion is such a bizarre instrument and yet it sounded like this was played on a full church organ. This was very impressive! Well done!

I think I just saw a person worthy of the name Musician. Also I never saw an accordion like that before, so to the designer(s) and maker(s), you built a whole pipe organ into a fire bellows, and this bloke learned to play it. You all must have minds like spiral staircases. I don't even have words for how stunned this video left me. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I ❤ his playing of this piece. He’s opened my eyes to the potential of the accordion. I’m blown away by this tbh. I gave me tingles down my spine and through my whole body. He’s a true musician, what a star ⭐️

Amazingly brilliant musicianship! As an accordionist myself, as a 12 year old kid I got as far as grade 3 (on a 120 bass Horna) and I am in total awe watching this. I so appreciate the bellows control this guy has, not to mention the massive array of buttons that he is total master of! 😅 Just brilliant...

Wow! I love this particular piece from Bach. Of course, I had to click on this link and, seeing it was played on accordian, only made me click faster! Sasha made the accordian dream it was a powerful pipe organ! ...and then I discover he has passed, on the same day I discovered him. RIP, Sasha.
