Yeah, Catherine wasn't born Russian, but in Catherine's mind, she made herself more Russian than her Russian husband, who actually worshipped the Prussians and wanted to make Russia into another Prussia. Which is kinda why the people accepted her far more than Peter, because she learned the language, became immersed in the culture, converted to Russian Orthodox, etc. So, it's kind of understandable that she would call herself a Russian.

When Frederick says “oblique attack tactics aren’t exactly straight”, it’s a reference both to his sexual orientation and to his preferred battle tactic. It involves massing your forces on one flank while leaving the rest of the battle line undermanned. If it works, it can lead to a swift victory, but if it doesn’t, you can lose in a big way
@alexjohnson25273 жыл бұрын
And it's still used today. I still remember Marine Combat Training. We had several formations that we practiced, and half of them were obliques. It's just like guerilla warfare. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

@@TeacherEddieHistory ahem , Bucephalus wasn't so beautiful you say , name literaly in Greek means oxhead and famously it was a very nervous horse nobody could ride and Alexander found out that it was scared by it's own ugly head shadow so he turned it towards light so couldn't see shadow and climbed on it's back and that was how he first got to ride it ( i m Greek btw and yeahh we learn about our history in schools)
@TeacherEddieHistory3 жыл бұрын
@@galadballcrusher8182 it was scared by its own shadow, yes but not because it’s head was ugly, how could the horse know it was ugly or even contemplate what “ugly” was? The horse was majestic and it had a large head, not an ugly head and the Ox was the branding mark the horse had, not cause it had an ugly head, hence the name, not because it’s head was oxen or ugly. Phillip purchased the horse for a remarkably high sum because it was bred from the finest Thessalian strain. Seems like you could use a refresher in “your” history.

Fun fact: "Empress to Tsar 8, bitch" is a play on "tsaryevich", which was the diminutive that was the common term used for the *oldest son* of the Tsar. "Little Vasilyevich" has a deep cut here. A tactic in Rap is the contestant mentioning the actual first name, rather than some name recorded as it . This meant as an insult of looking down on opponent, trying to trigger him/ her. Especially when adding basically the other just a kid compared to the former, not ready for the big boys. Thank you so much for your objectivity. My mother was born in 1932, she was 9-10 years old when the village was occupied by the Nazis. Terrible memories-hunger, bombing, hiding in pits. And my grandmother risked her life and the lives of her 3 children, she hid our officer, the pilot. Personally, I had no grandfathers - one was missing and we still do not know where he is buried, and the other died. My uncle, a 21-year-old cadet, also died. And so it is in every family in Russia. This is a huge pain for the country. So we say: "Do the Russians want war? Ask the mothers and wives who have lost almost all their men." We do not want war, BUT we have the genes of the winners, in every drop of blood - the pain, fear, courage of our grandfathers, brothers of the winners, who at the cost of their lives gave us , their descendants the right to live with dignity and remember and appreciate their lives with their lives. We want peace, we don't want war , but whoever comes to us with a sword will die by the sword. We do not need someone else's, but we will not give up our own. We have the blood of the victors who defended their race, their honor, and their Homeland. And now we will not give it up, we will justify the memory of our grandfathers!

She was known as Princess Sophie Friederike Auguste von Anhalt-Zerbst-Dornburg. She was married to Peter The III. The first Catherine was not a Great. And Peter the III was not either. So, it would be hard to get all the Greats in because of their are different ones with the same names.
