Should've stuck with Ilia Topuria by KO in round 2 like I was saying the entire build up. I'm counting that anyway. I just switched to decision, because it was easier to get my point across with evidence rather than just saying "he's gonna catch him in round 2" Been saying all week that lead hand of Volk goes down and his chin goes way up on the back foot after throwing the lead. I always supported illia since the hall fight. I'll admit I was iffy on this fight since it was pretty even and I didn't want either of them to lose. Even said illia was just making the conference more entertaining which is clear when he apologized to volk in the faceoff.

Well, this is the fight game so it makes sense that once you become the champion (especially if knock tfo the current champion like that) it's obvious the fans gonna respect that. It was a bit cringy Illia stealing Volk's belt and all that trash talk, but it actually made the conference pretty funny. We were not used to see Illia under the spotlight, so it makes sense some people didn't like it. But, like I said, you gotta respect the guy, great fighter and still very young.

The KO didn't happen because he was pulling his chin straight back (which was a mistake he did many tines nonetheless). It happened because he got cornered into an exchange, and he lost track of one punch while his head/chin were right in the center. I think if he had actually pulled his chin back in that particular exchange, maybe Topuria would have missed or grazed him like he did a couple of times in the first round. Also, it didn't help that he was so anxious and stiffing up everytime his opponent threw power!

Nah I picked Volk but I was thinking it would be a close fight. I only leaned towards Volk a little more because of merit. Ilia had the advantage of being mysterious, we didn’t know how good he would be. Josh Emmett was the best fighter Ilia fought prior to Volk. We still don’t know how good Ilia is, I’m a bit upset we didn’t get any grappling exchanges.

Mental struggles probably played a part too. He was so dominant he lost the motivation, started drinking, not training as hard. Then he gets ko'd, thinks he's motivated again but it's not the same cuz he's not trying to be the best, he's trying to get the loss back, and his age, all the stress on the body from being really active ..same story happens to so many. Hope he won't be the next guy ending on a big losing streak
