Hi Alexander. The only time I was advised to use the iron shoe was when I was making custom, classic shirts with collars. The shoe helped prevent staining and scorching on the shirt I was making, and especially useful on light shirting fabrics, linen and cotton, and especially whites and other light, easily stained fabrics when using less than completely new steam irons. The more the shoe is used, the more precisely it molds to the shape of the iron base or plate. I almost never use a shoe for piecing quilts, unless I see evidence of certain areas of the block with thickness due to multiple seam allowances overlapping, which results in the fabric becoming shiny from repeated pressing. It lowers the heat somewhat at those sensitive, high points, and reduces that worn, shiny fabric appearance. It is very effective for these purposes. Hope this explanation helps a little. 🙏😉

Thank you for such a full explanation. I have seen the shiny before and now I know better how to prevent it. I am glad that you continue to enjoy the videos.

I use distilled water. It's what I learned years ago. To keep the minerals out of the element of the iron.

I have heard it both ways. The manufacturers directions state to use tap water. I guess in the big picture both methods may work fine. Do what makes you happy and I will be too. Thanks for your input.

It's disappointing to see the cord coming out the side. Makes it less friendly for someone who is left handed. The cord will be in the way.

I have seen gravity feed irons that have it on the left side as well. Unsure of their manufacturer though. I would think one or two of the distribution companies/catalogs would have an insight into this. Good Luck!

Plz I have this same iron but water comes out of my iron instead of the steam

Sounds like a bad valve. These Irons are completely rebuildable so it can be fixed. One other thing, the iron has to be a full temperature which takes a minute or few and then just tap the switch, if you hold the switch too long you will get water too.

Are you sure the EZ90 is 1200 watts? Everywhere I checked for specs, they all say 1000 watts. How is it holding up in 2022?

The one I have is 1200 watts but supplies ran out pretty much instantly after I made this video. That is a bummer cause I really like this iron.
