Eating the €340 Menu at a Family Run 3 MICHELIN STAR Restaurant

Today we travel to one of Europe’s up-and-coming food meccas. In just 10 years, the number of Michelin star restaurants here has grown exponentially. Our restaurant for today is a 3 Michelin Star restaurant called Zilte. The head chef is Viki Geunes. This restaurant is a family run restaurant in the city of diamond. Welcome to Antwerp.

You should check what's around you, there's 1 star restaurants or soon to be 1 star restaurants that have pretty accessible pricing for a once in a while experience, also usually the less crowded the area, the cheaper it gets

@@kiliang96 absolutely. Check particularly for any with a set lunch Franky, that lets you dip a toe into fine dining without breaking the bank.

Well, it's fine dining. It's kindof meant to be expensive. You need to look for up and coming restaurants. Look if they have a chef that tries to prove himself, that had a good apprenticeship. If you get in early it can save you at least 100 euro's/dollars per person. Meanwhile i googled some options in my area, 6 courses all inclusive for 140 euro's. There are even more affordable options as well. Look on the Michelin guide, there might be something around that's perfectly suitable and affordable with quality. There are also 3 course options which cost significantly less. Alexander has the money for the most exclusive and expensive menu, it doesn't mean there aren't less expensive options. Besides, if you've never eaten at a fine dining restaurant a 3 course menu with amuses can give you a taste. You need to develop a palate for it.

@@Titant2I went to Belfast a couple of years back and ate at all three of their starred restaurants (one has closed since). The Muddlers Club tasting menu (7 courses) was £63 including a drink and was very good - excellent value for money.

Thank you for continuing to share these videos. As ever interesting / insightful and skillfully done. Personally, I enjoy seeing the receipt at the end, just so I can work out where the spend goes between the food and wine. Wine pairing for E140 seems pretty respectable, especially if the Sauternes is included in that..? As a big desert wine drinker, you can never go wrong with an D'yquem, especially once it's old enough to sleep with. Looks really decent though, wifey and I were considering a Benelux getaway with a Michelin meal, and this looks to tick a lot of boxes.

Great review of this wonderful restaurant. I have always had a passion for champagne. I have indeed had a few glasses of Krug at a gathering, and it was very enjoyable. There was a bar in England(UK) Midlands area called ‘Bar Epernay’ and it was very fabulous with beautiful Decor, inside fire pit, gentleman playing the piano. Of course, the best bit was you could order such a varied menu of champagnes by the glass, so I indulged in that in the past, and got to taste some great ones. Expensive, but very worth it. Not sure if its still there as its been some years, but it was always busy enough to have a great ambience, but not so busy that it felt stuffy. Great bar. I also love restaurants, and The Fat Duck’ and ‘Le Manoir’ would be on my wishlist🥂❤️👏🏼

Hi there. Really enjoy your take and comments on all the restaurants you visit. One thing though, at your visit in Antwerp, your phone is on the table all the time. That’s not good behavior. Shows you’re not focused and present. Unless you’re waiting on a call about your mom being ill or similar importance please put your phone away and be present. Brgds Allan

I had a great meal there in September 2023. The Caviar was stellar! They claim it’s the best in the world. Can’t remember the producer? Did you take note of the name??? Amazing wine list with some bargains like the epic DRC Corton Charlie I enjoyed!

we've been here as well. i believe we ordered the bread thrice because it was the best bread we will ever eat. otherwise it was a great restaurant, only the guy (i didnt know his name, but im guessing its the sommelier) was stinking of smoke unfortunately. though he was otherwise the friendliest of the staff. But the restaurant also made me realize that for ordinary people its impossible to distinguish 2 (like fred in rotterdam) and 3 stars (except perhaps for the bread).

Also, the sommelier working with you on a wine pairing sounds both great.. if you know your stuff.. and absolutely horrific.. if you dont know much about wine at all. I'm not sure I'd want to try the place if the sommelier is going to work with me, it would probably make me feel uncomfortable and would feel like a chore to me

Great video about what must be an amazing dining experience! As an aside, just once I’d like to hear a Michelin star chef say that he/she refuses to serve vegetarian/vegan/plant-based and “juice”’options. Those things belong in their own restaurants far away from fine dining establishments. Just my opinion.

I’ve dined at tons of 3 star Michelins. Hate to say it. But they’re literally all the same. Similar to ‘fine’ wines. I’ve drunk so much grand cru burgundy that it’s literally a ‘not another one’. You know what’s more boring than a 3 star Michelin? A two star killing themselves to get that 3rd star.

For me, there's no food or drink on the planet worth 1000 euros per person. I would pay that price if something unrelated was added (like eating with a celebrity), or having an uber unique scenery (eating while watching a vulcano errupt or something). What you got there seemed quite underwhelming. But hey, I guess it's all subjective. If you felt it was worth it, then yes it was.
