Done it a few times with my gf in an NA, but I will never do it again unless it is by myself. Napping sucks since the seats do not recline much. I'm on the shorter side, so I can recline the seats more than other people.. but it still sucks. Driving at around 65mph and you will be introduced with the "shimmy." However.. finding a nice windy road to drive on and you forget all the cons for a moment :]

Get your wheels balanced. The car isn't supposed to shimmy. Either your tires are out of balance or your steering components are worn and need replaced

@@shrimp562 I sold my car some time ago, but I had new tires and balanced with road force (something like that) to a certain specification mentioned by other users on a forum. It helped a bit.. but it was still there. It only happened around 65mph. It's fine at around 60 and 70+ mph surpringly. But it could be the steering components like you said. Been across the US three times in mine. The joy of the road trip is not getting there fast, it's the drive itself. That said, if you're top down, bring sun screen. Another danger is getting stones thrown up into you when driving behind 18 wheelers. One time, a friend of mine sitting in the passenger seat got hit right in between the eyes. I felt pretty bad about that. He shrugged it off, but it didn't look good.

My biggest issue with my Miata (2001, 2nd gen like this red one) is the heat coming off the transmission tunnel. I could only replace some insulation as the dash has to be removed to get under the forward carpet. Will likely create blankets that cover the tunnel from the outside. Otherwise, great car. The Mazda Miata MX-5, first introduced in 1989, is a lightweight, rear-wheel-drive roadster that has become a symbol of driving fun and simplicity. With its compact design, balanced handling, and low curb weight, the MX-5 quickly gained a reputation for offering an engaging driving experience at an affordable price. The car's design was inspired by the classic British roadsters of the 1960s, combining the spirit of those vehicles with modern engineering and reliability. Over the years, the Miata has evolved through four generations, each refining its performance and styling, yet maintaining its core values of fun and accessibility. The MX-5's relatively modest engine power, typically ranging from 130 to 180 horsepower depending on the generation, is more than enough to provide an exhilarating driving experience, thanks to its lightweight build and near-perfect weight distribution. The car's responsive steering, low center of gravity, and a manual transmission option make it a favorite among enthusiasts who seek a pure, unfiltered connection with the road. Its accessibility, ease of driving, and affordability have also made it a popular choice for track day enthusiasts and racing events. Despite its small size, the Miata offers a surprising amount of comfort and practicality, with sufficient trunk space and a user-friendly interior, making it a beloved option for those seeking both fun and functionality in a sports car.

I hate driving longer than 2 hours in my NA. Mine in particular has no cruise control which is a pain on its own, but even if I did, I would probably still hate it. The cabin is loud, I get cramps, the stereo sucks. The visibility to other drivers is abysmal. In my 1.6 with the 5MT, the engine turns over at 4k at 70, which doesn’t make for the most relaxing drive, between the noise and the concern about running the motor that high like that for several hours. Needless to say, not an enjoyable experience. But, once the highway ends and the back roads begin: the Miata is a dream and I wouldn’t have it any other way 😊

I have a 2015 WRX and I almost got ran off the road multiple times on a trip because people didn't see me. It's a silver sedan. They just weren't paying attention

Absolutely fun car to drive and cruise around. Comfortable enough for a decent trip, but anything above 4 hours or so is a no.

One of my vehicles is a Ram 1500 at times people don’t see it coming? So best strategy is to pray to God before any trips
