Most BTS MVs usually have 3 themes/stories they’re trying to portray: 1) the first is whatever the overall theme is for the album. This was the lead single for Love Yourself: Tear which was an album where the guys realize that changing yourself to get someone’s love isn’t love at all. In order to find true love, you must first learn to love yourself (flaws and all). 2) the second meaning is the overarching series theme/story. BTS love to release albums as parts of series. This song and album were a part of the Love Yourself series that used 3 albums to show about the highs and euphoria of love, the lows of realizing what you experienced was never truly love but you putting on a mask for the person you sought love from, and the conclusion or epiphany that before anyone worried about relationships and that kind of love, they must first learn to love themselves. Never change who you are for other but embrace every part of you. 3) the third and final theme/story that plays out in most of their MV is the BTS Universe Storyline. Yes yes, the infamous BU. This was briefly brought up in the Taylor guide but BTS has a fiction storyline that runs throughout most of their albums. The Fake Love MV was extremelyyyyyyyy influenced by the BU and in those cases you likely won’t understand a lot of the imagery (like the snickers, flowers, fire, and water) unless you’re caught up on the BU. So all in all, YES, I’d say you guys caught onto one of the three stories/meanings being portrayed in this MV. It’s always a beautiful message when it comes to BTS, regardless of which of the 3 that you catch on to.

Oh there is SO MUCH story here. This is music video is one piece of many music videos, short stories, clips, comics, etc that make up the BU, or Bangtan Universe. The story is very deep, dark, complex, and intriguing and spans years of content and we're still waiting on a couple resolutions. There's actually currently a Kdrama in the works for it called Youth

Back in 2018, I was just curious who’s this kpop group having a performance at the BBMAs. The performance was Fake Love. And I was like oh they’re actually good. Fake Love, of course, is awesome. Most all of BTS songs have deep meanings and many link to other BTS songs. Did you notice the writing on the mirror? It's an ambigram. It says "Save Me" and "I'm Fine" which are also 2 of BTS' songs to react to if you haven't already. BTS make every moment of their songs & videos have meaning. I am so so thankful my daughter introduced me to BTS about 4 years ago. I just wish I would have known them sooner.💜🫰

This was 1 of the first BTS songs I ever heard when I first got into them in 2019, and to this day, it's still my favorite song and music video from them, and I've listened to at least like 80 of their songs. it is an absolute masterpiece and gives me chills every time I hear it. the music video is also one of the best music videos of all time and is just pure art, especially because almost everything in the video is completely real with practical effects

Your interpretation is one of the more interesting descriptions, ways of getting at it that, that I've seen. The basic notion is that you must love yourself before you can properly love others. And your idea of being drawn to things that are bad for us, could be an aspect of that. I will say, in the BTS meta storyline, Suga is associated with fire, JHope is associated with chemicals and Jin is associated with power over life and death.

8:09...Ima stop you right you there. The saying goes "BTS Comes Into Your life...when Needed The Most". never heard o them - didn't know that. As a (56 yr old today) WEST INDIAN Army Mom...Was Chilling in my Multi Million dollar Villa (on my tiny Island of Montserrat)...packing my suitcase to leave on a business trip to Italy / Croatia/Spain - THIS SONG KEPT BREAKING IN (2016) into my YT vid. Throwing stuff in my case -clicking off this vid - ....WHO ARE THESE FOOLS? S.KOREAEN? ....the f**k outta here. Last Boy Band I knew was 'One Direction'.....hated dem fools. More I clicked off....more dis vid played. Finally finished packing. Exhausted. listened to the entire vid. Saw the 'dancing' - like wtf? Got curious - Googled BTS. THAT WAS IT. Dem boys (and their msg of LOVE YOURSELF) hit me like a SLAP IN MY frigging FACE. I was NUMB for yrs. living the 'good life' but behind closed doors.....treated like SHIT by my Millionaire BF/Business partner. Not going to lie. Remained in Toxic relationship til September 2019...my 19 yr old son left from here to meet his online GF in Alaska. Two weeks later.....kicked Arsehole to the curb...Dissolved our Water Business/ company....kept it MOVING EVER SINCE. BTS gave me the 'strength' ...no lie...to kick this MF-er 'Cos in the end? Money/Material things/Trips around the World mean f**k all. I learned to LOVE MYSELF. so yea.........this song is real special - it literally - changed ma life!!! Boorahea Darlings 💜💜
