I think the paper packaging should be embraced. This is a single use package that is immediately thrown out! We need to collectively move toward materials & packaging that can easily decompose and isn't harmful on the planet. I am happy Rare Beauty considered our environment when creating packaging and PR, just think about the immense amount of additional plastic trash it could have caused if they went for all plastic instead. We the people decide where companies will put there focus. If we complain that paper packaging feels "too cheap" then companies will stop taking sustainable measures and continue making everything with plastic, since creating with plastic is the cheapest option for the company already. Each one of us has control on the future of our planet. When we voice a desire and demand for sustainable and environmental packaging and products, companies change their practices to provide it. We have been brainwashed into thinking plastic is high-end due to the mass use of plastic, when in reality plastics are extremely cheap materials which is why they have been widely used by companies. We have inherited decades of harmful environmental practices, and now we have to look at the environmental neglect and re-train ourselves to see the benefit of sustainability and environmental responsibility. I know it can take a long time to reduce plastic dependence, but single-use plastics is the best way to start! PS:I recommended paper packages that can decompose since recycling plastics is a myth; less than 9% of all plastics in the world have been recycled!

I believe she focused her brand to be eco-friendly or green, if I'm not mistaken. I think they're meant to be recyclable (: which would probably give that papery feel because some prints and inks aren't as biodegradable so that could be a factor. To each their own, I think it's pretty cool for the brand to be eco-friendly. I feel like many of the beauty companies focus too much on packaging and PR packages that I toss or gets tossed anyway. It's a waste and I feel bad for the environment when I toss it out. Personally, I think more companies should be more eco-friendly with their packages and products! (:

Rare beauty products aren't recyclable, that I read. What could be worse is her base is saying its eco friendly or sustainable or green when it is just cruelty free and vegan. Cruelty free and vegan is great but is the minimum she could do? The thousands of products will go to landfill, that is not eco friendly lol. Lots of brands have been CF for years. Also I was reading but don't quote me that all chemicals are tested in some way on animals but after it gets approved its in a special approved category, and people claim that to be cruelty free/vegan even though AT ONE TIME previously it WAS being tested on animals. So she is benefitting from labs who tested it in the past but now claiming its not tested on animals.

Packaging is probably either canvas or linen cardstock (or something similar like felt). Other end of textures would be gloss, smooth, etc. I like to think of it as paint types for smooth papers and fabric types for textured paper. Designed stationary for a wedding one time, and now I have this vocabulary jangling around in my head for life ✨

Your videos are so helpful re: troubleshooting what makeup does specifically. So much of the time when I watch a makeup tutorial style of video, it is just a repetition of the same steps without explaining the purpose of each, and how it effects the face. You do a great job of explaining those things, while also thoroughly showing up close what each does. I have learned so much about application, and it seems the foundational purpose of each step-- I understand the purpose of contour now! Thank you for sharing your knowlege with us in such a friendly, honest manner 😊

Honestly these products are so good for any age, specially grown woman’s with a bit of wrinkles because all of these products moisturize the skin to make it look fluffy and healthy. Powder products tend to sit on wrinkles btw. My mom loves this brand, the new tint moisturizing is amazing and the blush, she uses it for her eyes cheeks and lips MULTI-USE

It is so refreshing to see a KZbinr with the same creasing eyelids, and under eye discoloration as me. In a world full of fake, airbrushed beauty, it is refreshing to see someone who shares the same perfectly imperfect features. I like that your under eye filler is dissolving because you’re the only KZbinr that I can use for reference to see if a product will cover up under eye darkness before purchasing (like this concealer, for example; hard pass). Thank you for being you. 🖤

I converted to brushes for my undereye concealer about 3-6 months ago. And it takes getting used to, because I use less concealer but because of the precision, I get better coverage and it's way less likely to get cakey and that's true across the board. I fully switched to brush for foundation (but I always finish with a sponge, when I got natural hair foundation brushes. Except for a couple of higher coverage matte foundations for which I still use a beauty blender. And somehow, despite using brushes for concealer and foundation, I still manage to use 2 beauty blenders every time I do my makeup. Well, one beauty blender and one super porous Elf.

Random question: how do you know if you are on the PR list? Do you assume you’re not and just go out and buy it? But that seems like such a waste. I know you can just donate whatever you get. Or do you wait and see if you get PR? But then you gamble on not getting it then having to purchase it yourself and you’re behind everyone else in reviewing it. Maybe I’m overthinking it🤪🧐
@AlexandraAnele4 жыл бұрын
So typically the brand will reach out ahead of time, or if some pr team gives them my address (which I'm not a fan of)..then I'll get the products a least a week or so before they launch. They actually did reach out in my DM's but I didn't see it until after I bought this stuff. I honestly wasn't interested in these products but people kept asking me for a review, and that's what I'm here for soooo 😂

Hi Girl - if you’re finding that you’re skin is becoming oily, it might be because you’re drying out you’re skin too much and this makes it produce more oil. Try a rose hip oil or jojoba- something that’s ph balanced and non comadonagenic. - I’ve got oily skin and if I use too many products at once it makes the problem worse.

I'm surprised to hear that people are mad about your review, it seems really fair to me? People have different taste when it comes to packaging so idk why anyone would be mad that someone doesn't like the aesthetic/feel of packaging. The rest of your critiques were also clearly based on what you subjectively look for in a product, you need higher coverage concealer which this one wasn't, you prefer a more precise liner which this one isn't, that one lip product sat weirdly and was strongly fragranced. These all seem like run of the mill concerns that people have with products so idk why people are getting butthurt about them? You were direct but professional, which is (imo) the best way to deliver critiques.

Prestige pricing with cheap feeling packaging is such a no. The only reasoning is maybe the weight and tactile feeling is connected to wanting the packaging to be inclusive for people with disabilities? Like that’s the reason for the knob-like caps and how other reviewers mentioned how “loose” the caps feel.
@AlexandraAnele4 жыл бұрын
I saw someone else comment this. It's interesting, I need to look into it. I didn't think the cap felt loose but it would explain the knob
@luccianadavilacastello53624 жыл бұрын
the packaging being inclusive for ppl with disabilities is fake,,, some weird Selena stan made that up
@electrictwilight4 жыл бұрын
The disability-friendly packaging is a myth. Someone made it up and started spreading it on KZbin, but Rare responded to inquiries and said the design was for purely aesthetic reasons.
@humanormachine29364 жыл бұрын
@@electrictwilight That's actually really disappointing as they had a golden opportunity here to make inclusive packaging. At least 1% of their profits go toward disability causes.
@finn75204 жыл бұрын
@@humanormachine2936 Personally, I'm glad they didn't since there's no one size fits all approach to disability-friendly packaging, and if they designed and marketed it as such it would just alienate people with disabilities who didn't find it to be compatible with their needs. It can be demoralizing to use something allegedly made with you in mind that doesn't help you after all. People with Parkinson's have different needs than those with MS who have different needs than those with arthritis, et al. I hope the ball-topped packaging makes application easier for some folks, though!

@JoanKSX4 жыл бұрын
@@AlexandraAnele I think Daiso has something that hmmmmm not sure. Japanese-brand stuff has to be explored and sometimes you find gems because Asian hair usually is stiffer and coarser so if the holding ability is weak, none of the mascara will work for us because it will go 'asleep' in seconds just after application XD

I can't be the only one thinking this lol IMAGINE that thin and elegant typeface on its matte packaging tho! (It's my personal taste) I'm a designer and I think their packaging goes pretty well with the identity they are representing, it's a vintage feel and I'd appreciate a decent typeface like that. tbh the only thing that throws this off for me is their logo (i know lol), I'd love this design more if Rare Beauty is in a different typeface that actually goes with its nolstalgia. Also just saying but everything in the world is going sans serif ughhh. ps I enjoy watching her videos and def no hate or crit just offering some thoughts and showing love for burgundy.
