I'm Canadian and we routinely do not wear shoes in the house. Seeing Americans on TV walk into a house and not immediately take their shoes off blows my mind. Y'all really wear shoes indoors? I just can't wrap my head around it. So to your point, yes, walking around barefoot is fine. Barefoot in home, but you wear the nice socks if you are going to a friends house. just an FYI about clenching (bruxism)! im a physiotherapist, and many people don't know this, but bruxism is actually often caused by forward head posture which pulls on the muscles below your jaw and forces the masseter muscle (chewing muscle, in your cheek) to become overactive to keep your jaw closed, so even when you sleep your masseter is contracting which causing clenching and grinding! so working on your head posture and manual techniques to relax the masseter muscle are MUCH more effective than a mouth guard (which is a bandaid solution and may actually encourage more clenching). :)

Dry shampoo: girls, I have been doing this for years. Wash and style hair. Use a bit of dry shampoo when you're done. After that, use a bit before doing things that'll make your scalp oily. Something I learned from my dentist is not to use mouthwash after brushing your teeth. Most mouthwashes have lower fluoride levels than toothpaste, so using them right after you brush basically negates any longer effects of the toothpaste. If you want to use mouthwash, use it at a different time in the day, like to rinse your mouth after you've eaten. Or do like Alex does and just gargle with salt water a few times a week (and skip the mouthwash altogether)
@sahriestar Жыл бұрын
For your gut it's better to not use mouthwash at all.
@nicoladelle Жыл бұрын
toothpaste advice that I got from my dentist. You want that toothpaste to stay on your teeth for as long as possible. Even if you use a fluoride mouthwash, it will never have as much as the toothpaste alone, so it's actually better to floss, rinse, THEN brush and then don't rinse at the end. Spit out the excess suds, but just leave the residual toothpaste on there. Don't drink anything for at least another ten minutes. I've noticed a huge difference in my teeth since I started doing this.

A tongue-scraper is a must!
@magicxspace5406 Жыл бұрын
wait, so is it bad to wash the tongue with toothbrush? 🤔
@Madilienne Жыл бұрын
@@magicxspace5406 It is not nearly as effective as a scraper - the soft bristles simply don’t remove as much. There have been studies made that proved a tongue scraper got rid of 30% more sulfur compounds than a brush. But using a brush is still better than not cleaning your tongue at all 😉
@magdaroykiewicz7608 Жыл бұрын
why is it better to floss before brushing?
@Madilienne Жыл бұрын
@@magdaroykiewicz7608 Think of it this way - would go straight in to wash your dishes that still have big chunks of food on them or remove the majority of it first and then clean just the smaller particles and grease? This is what you do if you floss first - you remove the big chunks of food and allow for the toothbrush and toothpaste to reach the spaces between the teeth (to a certain extent the foam from the toothpaste gets between the teeth even if the bristles themselves don’t enter fully). Brushing first with food still stuck between your teeth makes the whole process less effective, you don’t remove the plaque fully and the fluoride from the toothpaste doesn’t have a chance to reach the interdental space + you re-introduce the bacteria into the mouth.

Girl. I just wanted to back you up on the unscented Lume and Deodorant combo. I sweat heavily. Before Lume, I just used the Dove advanced care dry spray invisible in Sheer Fresh scent. It stopped the sweat, never built up in the arm pits, and never came off on any clothes (the no white marks on 100 colors is true). The only downside was that at the end of the day or after sweating orbeing in the heat that you could smell like old Deodorant in the pits, not as fresh. Because it doesn't stop bacteria growth! Then I heard about Lume. I bought the unscented solid, and after getting out of the shower, I swipe that on and then spray the Dove over it. I swear it's magic. I don't sweat or smell at all. Even at the end of the day! No more old Deodorant smell. It is crazy how well the combo works. Also, the unscented Lume by itself works very well under the boob area. It has literally saved my gym bras and tops from bacteria. Since I always wash those on cold and hang to dry, I feel like using Lume where I sweat keeps the clothes from developing bacteria on them and getting not fresh smelling over time with heavy use. Also, one last thing. Don't be upset about the chip in the tooth. Go right to the dentist. They sculpt the stuff they use to fill cavities to the chip and file and smooth it to the shape. I've had my front tooth and a back tooth fixed that way. It doesn't hurt, and you'd never know it wasn't your real tooth. ❤

If you’re thinking of making the switch from aluminum deodorant to non toxic I’m here for you girlies. The detox period is rough but try not to relapse as it will slow your progress towards less smelly pits! If you don’t have skin sensitivity I recommend RIODEO in transition as it has a sweet perfume but also is aluminum free. Before that I was using Sweet Pitti which is essentially like Lume but made by Drunk Elephant. It kept me lightly sweet and fresh no matter how much I sweat at work all day. It’s $17 tho. Right now I use humble which are strongly scented but with more natural ingredients compared to native which has more synthetic scents although both are effective. The scents from humble I just feel it goes nicely with my Henry Rose perfumes and hair products. Anyway if you’re thinking of ditching aluminum antiperspirants for natural deodorant, please do, you won’t regret it and your body will be in balance in a few weeks. I promise it’s not as bad as aluminum companies make it out to be. Once your body adjusts you’ll have less B O overall and can even go without deodorant. Get used to your sweat! One’s a natural function and shouldn’t be blocked by chemicals!

It’s really comforting because when I was a teen I was so insecure about smelling bad but at the same time I had mental health issues and I definitely had poor hygiene as a result. What I was really lacking was the motivation. I never wanted to shower/brush my teeth/brush my hair, whatever, because I had so much shame around hygiene in the first place. I felt like nothing I ever did was good enough because I never learned about hygiene growing up and yeah. Now I don’t have that shame! And I actually enjoy personal hygiene. So it’s easy to keep up with it :)

the toothpaste + floss tip saved my teeth!! Before I started doing that, I would always have little cavities between my teeth where they touched, EVERY time I went to the dentist. I started doing this with the floss a couple years ago from one of your videos, since then not only have I not gotten any more cavities, but my dentist/hygienist compliments me on very clean teeth with little to no tartar build up at my cleanings. Another tip if you wear a retainer or mouth guard at night is to not fully rinse out your toothpaste before you put on the retainer, to get more out of the flouride in the toothpaste rather than just spitting it out.

I thought the same thing, in households where everyone removes their shoes right at the door and the floors are regularly kept clean it’s definitely not gross in any way, like at least half the world takes their shoes off as a cultural norm and that doesn’t make all these places gross. My area everyone always takes shoes off and the only time it’s ever felt gross is if a guest refuses to take their shoes off at the door and tracks something in. I just don’t see why she feels the need to make such a strong statement of disgust about something that is normal for so many cultures
@shiny9074 Жыл бұрын
I dont think she meant it in discriminatory way. She says that it's fine if you dont wear shoes, she says later that she doesnt like the feel of her touching the hard floor and wants protection. She does express disgust a bit later but tbh I think she was exaggerating/teasing just to express the point people should buy the sandles. As well that, she's wearing sandles not shoes so she is still following with the cultural norm of leaving "outside" shoes at the door (my assumption though). Some use shoes, some socks, some barefoot, and other sandles indoors, but I don't think was targeted to other peoples customs with ill intentions at least.

She’s basically talking about slippers, which I think all my Asian friends wear in their houses and offer guests(in my experience anyways). She called them her slipper sandals. I am sorry you’ve been discriminated against socially like this to where you’re sensitive about this. These are just hygiene tips, and she’s clearly very big on them so don’t take it too hard.

It’s funny bc I had a mouth guard made for me at my dentist’s office bc I have TMJ - and it actually made my clenching worse! I think it's better to chew on a mouthgard rather than having cracks in your teeth! I also wear it at night, it's supposed to protect your teeth and fillings so they don't break. After some time your TMJ gets used to it's new position and you won't bite so hard anymore :)

After I posted my other comment, I just thought of another tip. If you don't like rubbing alcohol, use white vinegar. I do floss, mouthwash, then brush because then the fluoride I just applied in the toothpaste (assuming it’s a fluoride toothpaste) is allowed to sit on my teeth instead of applying it, and then just immediately rinsing it off. I feel like that really helps cavity prevention but I’ve never heard of any research backing it up

I think “you do you boo” is a pretty good convo starter. I love how open you are. I don’t like dirty feet and never go barefoot outside. At home I wear shoes until it’s time to stop. That lets my brain know it’s shut down time. Baby wipes are great for cleaning walls, skirting boards, wooden blinds and indoor shutters. Obviously they are pretty gentle as we use them on babies bums. Great for getting a quick stain out of your cars upholstery too Another tip, don’t waste money on expensuve timer cleaners, bleach or domestos (not sure what it’s called in the states) is the best thing (plumber told me this) Don’t put blue loo tablets into your cistern it stuffs the toilet. Vinegar - if you can stand the smell and paper towel make the best mirror cleaner. And real wood floors - polished just need to be steam mopped with no chemicals at all. Hope those tips might help someone. From an old duck in Australia

I started having recurring nightmares about losing all my teeth a while back... That made me upgrade my oral hygiene and now my dentist loves me lol I bought a water flosser and I freaking love it! Sure it doesn't eliminate the need for regular flossing to get between the teeth but it gets so much gunk out that normal flossing often misses. My process goes like water floss, brush (electric toothbrush), then normal floss, but now I might switch it to brushing at the end and toothpaste before regular flossing. Thanks for the tip 😁

Alex, the floss tip is a god send. I come from a country that used to not floss (which means the younger generation is flossing, learning from KZbin and other avenues), no one in my family flosses (as far as i know) , so i didn't have anyone to turn to when it came to that. After this video, I realised that 1. we should floss before brushing (that makes so much more sense now) and 2. use toothpaste before flossing to get in between the unreachable areas. I tried it out today, and i feel like a new person lol, i feel more cleaner. On a side note, our people have been using tongue scrapers forever so I guess that's a redeeming point haha. Thank you! Love your videos. ♥🌟

I used to get awful ingrowns on my bikini line, until I saw a reddit comment of "shaving tips from a stripper" who recommended putting deodorant on those areas after shaving. It really helps! I also use conditioner instead of shaving gel, and for my legs I apply baby oil while still in the shower and rinse it off right before I get out. It keeps my skin soft and moisturized without getting oil on everything.

@@bekaz13wait wait, why deo tho?? (First of all, you get micro cuts when you shave so that crap is going directly into your blood stream 😬) I'm genuinely curious about what helps/does. @@planktonn5390Doing a half assed job is better than doing nothing. So if you can't do it properly then at least give it a go. Also new habits take time to stick so you might forget a step one day but remember the next and that's still progress. I saw a video by a dentist and they explained it takes around 24 hours for plaque to fully harden onto a tooth, so the reason it's best to brush twice a day is so you have a second chance to catch any spots you missed the first time.

In my culture it’s a big no no to wear shoes inside. First thing you do when entering a house is taking your shoes off. Everyone has extra slippers for guests to use as well. So our floors are clean and walking barefoot is perfectly fine. From a health point of view: I promise you that you’ll have problems with your feet in the future if you always wear these big cushiony shoes and you‘re never barefoot / in socks / use barefoot shoes. Your foot muscles weaken which can lead to a whole set of problems including back pain, posture, pulled leg muscles etc. It’s just as bad as wearing high heels all the time.

I have a similar problem with deodorants, I feel like I can't wash them off completely...until I started using an oil shower gel (I like the one from Bioderma that I also use to take my makeup off). I feel like it gets all the deodorant off effectively. I then let my skin "breathe" during the night and apply deodorant in the morning. Another thing that helps is putting glycolic acid toner on my pits once or twice a week after a shower.

I feel like I go from too light of a dusting (face still kinda sticky/wet) to too much powder (cakey, dry/texture, sticking/clumping to weird stuff) with no in between. I also get confused on brush vs puff vs sponge application and whether it’s moving my base around. Also powder before/after cream products? Where to fit in setting spray with powder? Powdering between steps? Idk it’s all stressing me out.
