Thomas was so closed up during the initial call, barely speaking, looking at his mom for reassurance maybe. Happy to see his genuine surprised reaction to the makeover. Also happy to see a caring loving mother in Gill. Not all mothers are caring, nor loving. Despite this current challenge, Thomas is a lucky boy to have her and to get a room makeover. Any chance to do something for the siblings? As a parent of a son who has had many hospitalizations and surgeries, his twin brother and sisters don’t complain but we are aware of how it affects them. We give them “favorite days “ where they get to choose lunch or a movie ( one at a time). Just a thought.

It's the entirely wrong shade of blue. All I see is painter's tape. A more royal plus or a borderline navy if you don't want to go to dark, but this shade.

What an inspiring make- over. My daughter has terminal cancer now and even though a make- over does not cure cancer , it sure lifts the spirits and helps one to think about other things. I pray that Thomas’s cancer will be cured with the treatment and I am sure this make over is helping him focus on other things besides the cancer. His reaction was precious. What a gift for him and his mom.🥰

I think this is my favorite makeover you guys have ever done, because I love how much you listened to everything he wanted and delivered it to him in a way that he couldn’t have imagined. When he said grey was a color he liked, I thought your pink-loving heart would break! But no, you found a lovely green/grey and used those great contrasting colors to keep it sophisticated, but not depressing. He will spend so many hours playing video games at that desk, feeling comfortable and like a normal teenager, surrounded by a space that reminds him that he is loved and valued. And he absolutely deserves it! Amazing job! Congratulations to you and your team! 🎉

This was such a kind and lovely thing to do. Made me cry at the end (I had a son who became very ill and disabled and I totally empathize with Thomas's mother). He kept saying the room didn't feel like his but I think he meant it felt almost too good to be true. He clearly loved it. You all did something you often do and somehow magically expanded the space -- by the time you finished, the room looked far bigger than it did before. It's exactly what Thomas asked for -- cozy but not *too* cozy. It's restful and warm.

I hope you do something for the sisters. I had a daughter who was in several hospitals for 10 months. At the same time my mother was dying in another hospital. My other two children were constantly being shuffled around. This boy's sisters are agonizing too. Maybe you could add them to your schedule for a future makeover. I think your subscribers would appreciate your thoughtfulness. No matter what you decide, you are all awesome.

I was thinking the same thing. One if my twin sons is special needs and has had many surgeries. We are aware of the extra time his care takes so we make special days with one kiddo at a time to do what they want. They never complained but we wanted to reward them for their understanding

I have an employee who had cancer as a teen. He overcame it, has worked for me for ten yrs and I just promoted him - he won’t know until Monday 😉 I just wanted to share a hopeful story. He still gets checked yearly but he’s cancer free, a homeowner, a great employee and much appreciated brother, son, and team member!
