I used a borrowed JD800 back in the 1990s with a couple of friends of mine, to make a cynically exploitative "rave" song based on Gerry Anderson's "Stingray". Didn't get anywhere with the record, but it was a lot of fun. I seem to remember we were running Cubase on an Atari, using an Akai S900, and three DA88s for tracking. @@AlexBallMusic You’re welcome. :) Although, if you found it in the JD expansion in the JP-X I assume Roland either knows what they’re doing and it maybe was included on one of the expansion cards you could get to the original 800/990… or they simply just went creative and added it for fun. I have to browse through the waveforms on my JDs one of these days to verify, but it most definitely was first introduced in the CM-32L (and CM-64/CM-500 as they also include one too) as part of the 33 additional SFX sounds on the drum kit. :)
