A crazy man. Being able to dive to 130 meters on one breath is beyond my understanding. I would never even guess that a human body can withstand all that pressure down there but you proved me wrong and who knows how deep could you get. Congratulations man. From what I've seen in the comments your mother was also a freediver but passed away during a dive. Your mom would be so proud. :)
@macka5515 Жыл бұрын
How does that happen? Also at what point does he just free fall with no effort?
@xtherealest Жыл бұрын
@@macka5515I just searched up something about his mother and they say she went to give a private freediving lesson and never came back. Something probably went wrong and she passed out and there wasn't anyone that could rescue her. Alexey later said that he doesn't think he will ever find his mother dead or alive and that she might stay in the deep blue sea, her favorite place. She was considered the best freediver. Also about the free fall. At 10 meters you're neutrally buoyant which means you don't go up or down, you just levitate. If you go below 10 meters you will slowly start to free fall to the bottom but it's very slow. The deeper you go the faster you will free fall into the depth. You can see that when he gets about 50 meters below he almost doesn't have to kick anymore because he's already free falling into the deep. When he gets to like 65 meters he doesn't even kick anymore and just sinks down. This is a very important part of the dive which is to not use any oxygen if unnecessary so he just stays still and waits to go all the way down. Why the free fall happens is because as you go down there's more and more pressure and the deeper you go the more your lungs get compressed because of the water pressure. I think at 30 meters your lungs are about 1/3 of their normal size which means you basically have way less lung capacity and less air and that's why you begin to sink. When you dive deep your lungs have basically the same capacity as if you breathed out almost all the air out of your lungs and then went diving. Your lungs are 1/3 of their size at 30 meters, now imagine how small your lungs get when you're at 130 meters. I seriously don't get how can he stay down there because it's pretty much as if you just exhaled all the air when being at like 5 meters and decided to stay there for a minute or two. As he goes up his lungs slowly return to their normal size and the air in his lungs expands. Sorry for the comment being so long 😂

There something special to Alexey's technique. His level of comfort and relaxation. You can see even it when he packs. He takes pauses while doing it. I haven't seen anyone doing it like this before. And when he swims down, rather than swimming he actually just sinks. It's almost like he's not focused on the performance itself but rather on his state of mind. I would guess he will keep his records for a while because that's something you cannot really train.

I was able to hold my breath to the turn around point and just about shit myself trying not to breathe. I was nearly convulsing as my mind was yelling at me to do something so natural and I didn't want to. This sport is insane

Now imagine that you're just sitting or laying down but he has to kick for the most part. When he gets to like 80 meters he doesn't really have to kick anymore but with the huge pressure that's there his lungs are so compressed that he can barely have some air in them. I think at 30 meters your lungs are compressed to 1/3 of their normal size. At 130 meters your lungs are extremely small. You have to be a superhuman to be able to hold your breath at that depth. It's pretty much the same as if you decided to dive to like 40 meters but before you started the dive you would exhale and get rid of all the air that's in your lungs. I seriously don't understand how does he do that.

All his victory belongs to his mother, since she taught him to this technique, she was not only the best free diver but a sceintist, she developed a unique diving technique and was finishing her habilitation thesis, after ph d., there were a lot of jealous people around. I think she was killed bcs of financial interest, advertisement money, she was hindering other people from becoming a winner, bcs she had always won, The 2nd version: her research for military divers which got interest from military, the foreign agencies did not want that she will finish the work. 3rd: very suspicious behaviour of her son, he never was sad, showing a grief about his mother loss, she was taking away the whole fame from him, he was there when she dissappeared. So, she could not get drown in a see, almost impossible, she was the best, very cautios.
