Absolutely brilliant.. The silence between the instruments signifying the natural silence, emptiness, and ambience that the wilderness gave Hugh Glass as he traveled. “While you can still breathe, you fight, you survive..” This movie really taught me a life lesson. No matter how bad you’ve fallen, failed or lost.. you keep on fighting. You survive. The world is a very cold place, there will always be a bear or a Fitzgerald trying to take you down. Don’t let them. You die when you know you have done everything you can, when you know you have left something behind, a legacy. And finally, let God do the rest, put your faith and problems at the feet of The Creator. You will be victorious.

Run as fast as you can. The darkness is not your friend. Those hands were never to be shaken. The tread is long. Not much to carry. Started to become weary. The night is once again eerie. I fear thy. Noises that break neck. Howls I can't forget. The consistent bothering of pests. Weak needing rest. Nowhere to find it. The snow is too cold. A cave filled with unknown. A constant chill that strikes bone. I've never felt more alone. I miss what I called home. I miss the comfort zone. Disassemble the chains. From that I will always refrain. Therefore I must tread. Forward is my best bet. I cannot let up. I can't let...I can't. In this bitter weather I have to say I can. That is if I want to see the next days end. Again and again. Until I've found what I've been wanting, and even then...it's still continuing, onward.

As the journey became longer, the constant nagging of revenge my motivation. Everything taken from me, my heart pounding to keep me alive, my breath short and abrupt. The snow covering the mountains stung my skin. The scars and bruises a sign of survival. If I could survive all of this I will not go until revenge is achieved. I'm not afraid to die...not anymore...

This movie seriously changed my life. I remember seeing it with my brother when it came out and we had to leave the theatre early for some lame reason. But I just couldn’t take my eyes off the screen, it was such a moving and visually stunning movie. People complained about the shots being way too long or even the movie being boring but I have a hard time seeing that. Eventually I bought it in 4K for blu ray and watched it all the way through by myself. I seriously came out a different person after that. What I remember seeing was a tale of not just action characters gaining superpowers or some quirky comedy film, but a movie that defined reality. The harshness of people and nature. In the end the only thing that seemed viable in our chaotic world to fill the void of loss and betrayal was just violence, which is what defines us as humans.

Everything about this movie was remarkable. Really pulls the emotions that are not felt on a day to day basis. The silence within the clips and sounds make this a spine chilling movie to experience, all playing along with the character's development.

"When the lambs is lost in the mountain, he said. They is cry. Sometime come the mother. Sometime the wolf." The wolf came for Hugh Glass, yet he triumphs against all odds. Great film.

Everytime I hear this music, with the fire place sounds of the background it charges me to face the reality to keep living and loving after everything else around makes no sense. Getting watery eyes just meditating on the song.

Lost my family pet of 12 years tonight just before Christmas, house feels empty with out him, feel upset, I knew he was not in the best way but never expected him to go so soon, never take loved ones for granted folks, sad how people/animals are here one moment and gone the next, and we are just left here missing them, time spent with good people/animals is a precious thing.. life can be cruel, and rarely ends in an ideal way, think a few days before he passed, he said his goodbyes in his own way, but I never quite realized at the time.. then he retreated to his shelter, for some solitude, sad thing is I never got to see him on his very last day, but he looked comfortable at least, and I hope he is up there with those he once knew who have also passed away.. RIP you was a good family pet and was also part of the family.

Sad, brooding and atmospheric with deep gravitas. A short and brilliantly composed piece! Fits the film perfectly. Just like some of Hans Zimmer's great work in Gladiator and the Last Samurai. Interesting how so much great music is in a minor key.

One of my best friends lost his 4 year old today.... As I age, I begin to see more death everywhere. It's cruel nature, although devastatingly horrendous. Gives purpose to those who continue to live. To live courageously, to live openly, and to live freely. R.i.p. little one. You are in my heart until it stops pumping.

I close my eyes, I listen to this song and thoughts assail my mind. This piece is an incredible power. Every time I listen, I get chills. (Chiudo gli occhi, ascolto questo brano e i pensieri assalgono la mia mente. E' di una potenza incredibile questo pezzo. Ogni volta che lo ascolto, ho i brividi.)
The music is perfect, it mirrors both the heartbreak and desolation inside and the cold indifference of the harsh landscape. It's disconcerting and minimal because he survived on little, propelled more by the need for justice than by a will to live. Almost every horrible thing that could happen to a person happened to him. Very impressive movie, and Ryuichi Sakamoto shows great sensibility in his music as always.
