As much as I like Rogue One, this is the worst part of the movie since it kind of ruins the beginning of A New Hope. The whole beginning of A New Hope is "We have some spies that have told us your ship has the plans that were stolen from us. So we're going to search your ship until we find them." and Leia saying "You have no proof. You stopped us randomly and we're a diplomatic vessel. I don't care what information you have about some plans aboard our ship." When you combine them together, it involves Vader literally at the door to their ship watching the plans go inside. He's about to murder them all. Then he turns and watches that ship leave. Then he apparently gets in his ship and jumps after them. Then, knowing with 100% certainty that they have the plans, Leia still attempts to convince them that there's some doubt. Plus, we're not sure how Vader tracked them to their location. In my head cannon this only makes sense if ANH was like a week later and they randomly ran into them...but then what were they doing during that week?

Storm troopers are actually extremely effective soldiers. The only reason why you never see them do shit is because you’re always looking at them from the perspective of characters with plot armor. A normal trooper is said to have the ability to land 1 in 5 shots on an enemy, which is impressive even by a modern soldier’s abilities. Fun fact: the actor for K-2SO, Alan Tudyk, physically acted out his scenes on short stilts while wearing a mo-cap suit, to sell the authenticity of his interactions with the other cast members. That slap he gives Cassian when they get cornered on Jedha was real and improvised by Tudyk, and they left it in. You can even see Diego Luna trying to cover a surprised smile during the rest of the scene. 😂 Also: many of the shots of the X-Wing pilots at the end of the movie are unused shots from the Death Star battle in A New Hope. That’s why if you look closely, they look kind of… off in terms of color and composition.

Yeah, that unused Death Star run footage is very apparent on Gold Leader. I love that they did that though, it shows that Gareth truly loves Star Wars and wanted it to make it tie into A New Hope as much as possible. As a lifetime fan of Star Wars (saw them all in the theater when they came out), Rogue One is my favorite. The way this film was made, the cinematography, the grittiness, the violence, the hope and determination against impossible odds, and the sacrifice...it's what Star Wars always should've been. Ever since I saw Rogue One, I've imagined what the other films (episodes 1-6, the sequel trilogy is garbage) would've looked like if done the same way. So glad you enjoyed this one. Incidentally, the crystal necklace Jyn's mother gave her is a Kyber crystal, the kind used to power light sabers...and also, unfortunately, the death star.

You probably don’t remember, but some of the actors in this movie have also portrayed a character in the MCU. Mads Mikkelsen (Galen Erso) was Kaecillius in Doctor Strange 2016, Forest Whitaker (Saw Gerrera) was Z’uri in Black Panther 2018, and Ben Mendelsohn (Orson Krennic) was Talos in Captain Marvel 2019. Jimmy Smitts previously portrayed Bail Organa in Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. Bail is Leia’s adoptive father. Out of all the deaths, K-2SO was the most emotional. Even as he was on his last knees, he still held on long enough to help his friends achieve their goal. My favorite characters overall were Chirrut Îmwe and Bodhi Rook. The Ip Man himself Donnie Yen is always a win. I also teared up as Chirrut in his dying words told his friend Baze Malbus to find him in the Force. Chirrut isn't a Jedi, but it's implied that he's Force-sensitive. He was able to sense Jyn's kyber crystal. What's special about kyber crystals is that they're connected to the Force. They're also what give power to the lightsabers. Also, Chirrut gets the funniest moment in the entire movie when they bagged him. Bodhi also deserves credit for his contributions to the team. His protocols were highly essential, especially with infiltrating Scarif. By the way, Riz Ahmed was also Carlton Drake in the first Venom film. He’s also a rapper and a member of the Swet Shop Boys. They haven’t released much music together as a group, but if you put Riz on the mic… watch out! Diego Luna reprised his role as Cassian Andor for the Spanish dub. He also has his own series titled Andor which takes place five years before the events of Rogue One. And yeah, he dubbed for his show in Spanish as well. The first season has 12 episodes, and a second season is on the way. The recent strikes delayed production, but Diego recently said that filming is almost complete. There were also plans to make up to five seasons, but after some extensive reviewing they decided to conclude the show with season two.

@dibsdibs34959 ай бұрын
@@hagank1111 i know I mean Disney expanded universe. An expanded universe is what you say to refer to extra content that expands on a particular saga. It’s not a term that’s exclusive to Star Wars. I wasn’t referring to Legends. It’s quicker to say EU than “novel, comic book, guidebook, audio drama, video game, etc.” I was just asking cuz I know there was that comic about chirrut and the other guy and also the prequel novel to rogue one called Catalyst. If you’re just basing this on context clues then it’s just head canon. The force could’ve just moved the blaster bolts away because that was the will of the force and not necessarily chirrut using the force. That’s always been the justification for why the protagonists in SW movies never get shot.
@hagank11119 ай бұрын
@@dibsdibs3495 In this case as I said it’s based on context clues, which dose not mean head-canon if your actually knowledgeable on the subject and have evidence, information form the visual guides, books, and comics, esc. It was indeed the Will of the Force but he was slightly force sensative as well. So it’s not head canon. Also Disney dose not actually use the term Expanded Universe as that term eludes to the old EU and that’s something Disney hasn’t wanted attached to them until recently. They renamed the EU Legends because they wanted to change its name, it’s meaning, and it’s weight. The EU did mean material outside the movies but it grew into something far more then that. However, Disney has never had an EU as they don’t call their things outside their movies EU. They just call it apart of their Universe because they want it to all be one thing. The Disney Canon. This is something they’ve made known time and time again.

Whatever the current explanation, I think it's all just ret-conning. The actual answer is that George Lucas was creating a "White Hats vs Black Hats" story like the serials he grew up with and, in those stories, the bad guy's henchmen are disposable cannon fodder that drop immediately when the hero shoots at them. It's like any old western or 80s action flick where the hero runs into a hail of bullets, stand up and fires his gun fully out in the open, and doesn't even get grazed while every single shot he fires (whether he aims or not) takes down at least one henchman. Don't get me wrong: I love the Star Wars movies, but I don't feel like we need to bend over backwards to find a way that Lucas's cheese "actually makes sense." Because it doesn't. Stormtroopers are terrible shots and easy to kill because, if they weren't, the heroes would die in almost every encounter. Instead, Lucas gave the heroes full plate plot armor.
