Many years ago I was a truck driver, and we used a particular type of grease for the hinges and locking bars for connex containers and trailer doors. I CANNOT for the life of me remember the brand name at the moment, but it was rated for Marine use and worked like a dream. As long as you wore rubber gloves when applying it and slightly heated it (We would put the container in hot water for a few minutes before using it), you could use a small chip brush to spread it where you needed it to go. When you were done, just dispose of the chip brush properly, and the hinges and locking bars were protected for a full winter. We wouldn't need to reapply grease until spring time. When we did, we would pressure wash the old grease off after spraying it down with some water based degreaser (Dawn dishwashing soap mixed I think 20:1 with water). Then reappply like previously.

To extend your workspace (temporarily when there), look at putting up a small awning (flat tarp) with some overhead projecting poles (easy to setup/remove) from the top outward when both doors are open. Velco or snaps to attach the overhead tarp. Then just have a portable table or two to move outside for grinding or painting.

Would it be worth putting a rotating roof vent in the container Alex? I set up 2 x 20ft containers for servicing powder fire extinguishers in and fitted reverse cycle air conditioning an air compressor and vacuum extraction but with all that the air transfer suffered badly and it needed a "whirlybird" vent even with a door open if there was no breeze. Enjoy the "workshop"

My ex once dragged me to an art festival with vendors based out of some shipping containers. It was the dumbest thing I’ve ever been to. No windows in the shipping containers and the moment you walk in you’re uncomfortably locked face to face with the vendor and have to pretend to give a fuck about their generic looking art for a minute or more instead of turning around and walking straight back out because that would be rude, then when you leave without buying anything after a one minute conversation it’s still considered to be rude.

well done on the electric thruster idea for Alansøn. I've converted a Bass Pro Shop Pond Prowler 8 (basically a cheap plastic bass boat mass-produced over here in the States) into a sort of bootleg electric "center console" with a cheap "3 HP" (not sure I buy Haswing's advertised power estimation) trolling motor Frankensteined into accepting a steering cable and have been very happy with the results. electrics have a nice amount of pep to them!

no, it's quite horrendous. most of the Chinese makers are like this AFAICT. for me, just messing around, I'm happy to accept their eccentricities, but given that propulsion of various kinds might be literally life and death for you I would emphatically agree something with much better support from presales to years later is a better choice. ePropulsion is one obvious candidate, I might also look at Elco. looking forward to seeing how you set it up, @@AlexHibbertOriginals

That 2K PU Primer is a good enough paint for household use. It also will stick fine to the withered PU paint, when brushed clean. Did a concrete silo this way. Had to do it again after 10 years , because rust was blooming trough. The silo is used as a storage for 8 tons of wood pellets.

Would it be possible to put in an airlock by the right door? (not in the way of workbencha at left door) to keep the warmth in when not in need to carry large objects in and out. Since the temprature drops soon.

@@AlexHibbertOriginals I guess it depends on the paint of course But a chalk based latex won’t stop the bleed through. An acrylic enamel will But it will get you An epoxy enamel ? Now you using the tough stuff. Tough on you and In a closed space. I just hope it wasn’t enamel you would have fallen out the door I think I told you last year I saw a 30 person conversion here in Lake Michigan . It was sweet. Looked very safe for the Great Lake. So keep it going it will be worth it . Enjoy
