I am a wounded child - emotionally lonely my whole life and sexual abuse. Unavailable father and mother working. Now I am 70 and I do feel that everyone is a wounded child to some degree. I acted out in every way possible Re enacting abuse to myself, co dependent enabler, controlling savior type and a nurturing fixer. I used identities to cope, alcohol, sex, shopping the lot. I took to doing meditation and feeling the terrible anxiety and panic. I had to be strong and a warrior force, a protector and an empathic intuitive loyalist. It’s tiring. Now my own adult children are dysfunctional too and I can’t trust them or feel safe. In my isolation I work hard to feel and feel and feel. I run and tell a higher power all my pain and I end up feeling loved and held and protected. I don’t think that now I want to connect too deeply and not because it’s not safe but that everyone is wounded just like me. I am working on loving me and I do love my huge open heart and the way I love children. I still have a trigger but only with my youngest daughter. I trigger when I feel let down by her and no one takes a stand for me when I need.

Sounds like you are doing the work! It isn't easy. Yes, everyone is wounded and only some will ever face their wounds like you are doing. It can be lonely. That is why the relationship to self is the most important one.
