I hate that that Sephora employees look at me like I'm a animal that wondered into the store when I am not wearing makeup! Like damn man why the hell would I come in with a full face of expensive makeup only to try on others and mess up what I had on? If I go to Sephora barefaced it's because I'm there to buy "new" products for my makeup collection and try on before I buy. Ugh.

agreed. the thing that always seems to happen to me is... I end up there after work, so I'm in casual clothes and barefaced- no need for me to wear makeup to work-I walk into ulta or sephora (they are by each other here) and at both stores- i either get sideeyed or ignored totally or have to chase down someone to help me, even though it's a tuesday and the store is empty. so so annoying-- you can't tell who is going to be a big spender and who will buy nothing, based on how someone is dressed. i learned that the hard way from selling women's shoes. i also learned, be nice and offer great service to everyone, because, again, you can't tell who is going to be a big spender and who will buy nothing, based on how someone is dressed, or whether or not they already have makeup on

For some reason the way you're describing the MAC employee reminds me of the same exact attitude the eye doctor had when I went to get new glasses. She asked me what I needed them for, and I told her I need them for class and says some shit about "Can't you just sit in the front?" I said "No! Because I usually sit in the middle row plus having to look up at the projector screen would hurt my neck if I sat in the front. Sooo in the middle I have a good seat." and we sat there looking at each other for a good few seconds, and she says "Well, let's get you those glasses!".. then she's doing the test where you look through these lenses, and put your chin on the rest thingy. Well, she decides to ask me a question about which classes I'm taking, and I'm telling her and she rudely says "Can you stop talking so it can adjust to your eyes, so, we can get out of here" -______- I pulled my head back slowly and raised my eyebrow at her, and calmly said: "Don't ask me a question if you don't care what I have to say." and she got this kinda shook look on her face and was like "Okay. Just let it adjust to your eye's and we can move on the the chart on the wall." She didn't talk much after that. Most people probably let chicks like the MAC employee and eye doctor's funky attitudes slide, but I'm not the one. LOL I was ready to throw some putasos in the little ass room, and it's funny because I'm usually chill, but she was really trying me.

ikr, One Time I was at Mac and I asked for a foundation. I already knew which one I wanted and I told them. I'm pretty pale and they literally gave me a foundation 3 shades darker than my actual skin tone. I'm only 15 so it's a pretty big deal for me to buy Mac products. In the store they like made it look paler and when I got home and used it, It oxidised like hell.

You did a whole lot better than I would of. A few years ago my hubby gave me a couple hundred for my birthday, to go to MAC. Keep in mind I did not own MAC products, but always wanted some. The day I went I had just gotten a facial so I had no make up on. I got the same looks and could not get anyone to help. So I went to Sephora a few shops down. Of course the ladies in Sephora were very helpful. After leaving Sephora (with a very large bag) I want back into MAC and they gave me the same look up and down. Once they saw the bag from Sephora their whole attitude changed. I told them they did not deserve the comishion from my purchases and asked where was another MAC location. To this day I have never wanted to set foot in another MAC store. I have a friend who like to try new make up looks and used me as her test subject. I will not let her use MAC products on me. I know that seems a little extreme, but I can't support a product that treats people like that.

We moved our holiday sets and limited edition products. Things have changed. I can wear full makeup and dress up and they will not budge from behind the counters to offer to show me anything! I am their demographic even!. After having to scan products at Macy's with my iphone this year, and NO ONE showing me the holiday sets... I said I was heading to ULTA! At Ulta, Great service, a beauty advisor by my side immediately helping me find everything on my list. Sorry to hear about your MAC experience, but not at all surprised!!!

I had a bad experience too. I ended up leaving because loud as can be the mac employee laughingly said to her coworker "omg girl I can't do this ladies makeup, she so pale like casper done crawled up in my chair! Mac don't make the shade paper!" I was so humiliated because I'm so self conscious of how pale I am. Makeup is hard to find for me. I was going in to get my makeup done to celebrate being in remission and I was just so sad. I was going to buy everything that worked too, brushes included.

Since MAC employees are supposed to be "professional makeup artists" meaning that they have a license.. I've heard way too many stories like this. FYI if you blew on a client, or a customer, or any palette of any sort while state inspectors were in the building, or a "secret shopper" was there, you would get your license snatched up so fast!!

If I don't feel like my makeup is up to par I won't even bother going in there because they make me feel so uncomfortable and I get waaaay too anxious... Now in the Mac counter there is a transgender who works there and I go after work and she is the most helpful person and doesn't give me runaround bullshit ... This reminds me of an experience I had at Ulta in 2016. I have hooded eyes and wanted tips on winged liners and they had Urban Decay/Ulta artist doing full beat. I got there and bonded with the first artist but she was working on another young lady. My artist came and long story short, took the darkest foundation in the collection and plastered it on my face. No attempts to match or anything. I explained that it’s too dark and doesn’t match my body. She rudely said, “it matches your neck”, and she had a home girl co-signing her mess! When she got to the liner, which my 10 year old nephew could’ve done better, I told her that I can’t see the wing when I smile, she then said... don’t smile!!! And again her partner in crime said the same thing. I got up off the chair and said, “we’re done”. This was a very disheartening experience with racial undertones (just like a very famous influencer spoke about throwing battery acid in a black girl’s face so she can finally match her foundation). The beauty industry can be so ugly!

Also, the funny part about those movies and your experience is that the whole point of going into a makeup or a clothing store is to get something that you don't have. If you go into a clothing store to buy nice clothes and you are wearing drab clothes, there's no reason for anyone to talk down to you because you're there to buy what they have and they are making money. The reason you are wearing drab clothes might be because you don't have nice clothes, and you're there to buy nice clothes to wear, and it's just the same with makeup.

Lol you should go to this Mac store I went to the other day, the guy was doing my makeup and I’ve seen him a few times but he wears like blue eyeshadow and red lipstick and to me it looks crazy. So I asked for his advice on blush, I told him I didn’t want any shimmer, so we went through 8 different blushes, 2 mac mineralized blushes and for some reason he picked out this like face powder, because each one just disappeared on my skin which was weird on top of me using the wipes, the product was making like crescents on my face. Then I asked him that I wanted something like this new shade sur just a little more darker which I thought would of been like a deeper berry color but no he pulls out this super dark purple shade and then this brown shade and this weird peach shade that made my skin look ashy. So I’m like super confused, and I don’t even work at Mac but he did not pick out dark skin friendly shades for me, oh ontop of him putting blush near my forehead like you would highlighter, it was not cute, and this woman that works there, oh lord her lipstick application needs super help because they chose red on my lips and she tried to follow my Cupid’s bow but it wasn’t happening lmao.

You NEED to contact MAC Corporate offices and report this experience! Skip over the manager of that specific store, because no action will likely be taken. If MAC has ANY amount of integrity, they will WANT to KNOW about this employee's horrific attitude, rude customer services and PATHETIC MUA practices!! I am serious....I hope you report her! It makes me so disgusted and mad that you were treated so terribly. The reality of the situation is that you are probably not the only customer she has treated this way. PLEASE.....send an email to MAC Corporate along with your video attached. I have been contemplating going to MAC to have my makeup done, but after hearing about your experience, I have no desire to it anymore! Sorry to hear you went through that. I used to get offended and for awhile stayed away from make up and perfume counters for that very reason. Later on, I became a store manager and I had to visit other stores just to see how they treated me. I walked in with shorts, sandals, an old top and no make up on. I got ignored and stared down, I even had people following me. I loved to see their faces when I ended up making a big purchase. It was part of our training to go an experienced other store’s costumer service. It sucked , but it showed me not to judge costumers based on appearance. It showed me that I have to make every costumer welcomed in my store so they want to spend their money with us and the most important part, I want them to keep coming back. Mac should train their sales people so they can make more $$$

Ok I’m five years late but I worked at mac when I was transitioning jobs from an esthetician and I remember as a teenager feeling so embarrassed to go to mac because they were so stuck up! I really went out of my way when I worked there to make everyone feel valued and it was the funnest job I ever had! Our whole team did! We would get comments from customers saying they would drive twenty minutes out of the way to come to our store because the positive attitude we had! It really makes a difference

I remember I went to Ulta and i was trying makeup because i was just trying to find some basic shit that i actually liked but i refused to ask anyone for help because i already knew how they were and i kid you not. this woman that worked there got mad at me and said uh u cant put on a whole face of makeup (which i didnt she just saw me trying something on) and i said okay. then i continued looking to see what else they had because i saw that alot of the things they had were dry or nasty and old. or i just didnt think it was moisturizing enough for me and so i saw another woman approach me saying the same thing to me. never had i had workers at either sephora or ulta pretty much telling me to leave just for trying on their products .... wow. after that i just never wanted to even look at the products or go into that store after being treated the way they treated me. i thought customers were welcomed to try on products.

Honestly I find the same thing when I venture into stores that sell makeup and wander around the beauty section, if I'm not wearing makeup I'm treated in a condescending way. If I'm in there with my face on the staff are as sweet as honey. The other difference is that if I'm in my makeup I'm only asked ONCE if I need help then Im left alone (which I like because I'm a quiet browser, I like to be slow and read everything and make up my mind when I'm ready). If not, I swear I get asked by every staff member in the store if I need help because I'm obviously lost and have no idea what I'm doing - cue eyeroll.
