'Waterwings (And Other Poolside Fashion Faux Pas)' from the debut self-titled album by Alexisonfire.
---
Alexisonfire is the first studio album released by post-hardcore band Alexisonfire. It was released on October 31, 2002 and recorded when members Chris Steele, Wade MacNeil and Jesse Ingelevics were only 17 years old. In October 2005, the album was given gold certification as it sold over 50,000 units in Canada.
On January 14, 2014, a remastered version of the album was released through Dine Alone Records.
---
Hailing from St. Catharines, Alexisonfire rose up out of the Southern Ontario underground in late 2001, to become one of the most successful indie bands in Canada. The band’s success also reached far beyond Canada’s borders. AOF released four hugely successful studio albums, Alexisonfire (2002), Watch Out (2004), Crisis (2006), and Old Crows / Young Cardinals (2009). Crisis debuted at #1 on the Top 200 Soundscan chart (Canada), and Old Crows / Young Cardinals debuted at #2, and charted at #9 on the US Billboard Independent Album chart. Watch Out helped earn the band New Group of the Year at the 2004 JUNO Awards. Their first 3 albums achieved Platinum certification in Canada while Old Crows / Young Cardinals reached Gold certification. The band also topped charts and graced several notable music magazine covers internationally (Kerrang, Blunt, Big Cheese, Canadian Musician, Exclaim! ). AOF’s sold-out 10th Year Anniversary Farewell tour in December 2012 touched down on four continents in 24 days, illustrating how meaningful the band still is to their legion of fans around the world.

If you go out of your way and look for new music instead of listening to whatever is on the radio then imo were in a golden era of a billion genres all at our finger tips. i hate to say this because it makes me feel so fucking old... but... i'm 38 now... i wish i could just go back to these times and do it all over again. the times when i was young, fresh out of college, liberated, arrogantly confident, getting tattoo'd. just starting my masters, getting laid, getting drunk, partying with good friends, with new friends i met every week....and during the day, all the while going from class to class over at UT, riding my bike from pearl street to the main campus listening to the album i used to call "two girls staring intensely still just before a knife fight." a silly title, i know.... it just sounded like the most emo title i could think of, as i was only listening to a bootleg tape (yes, tape) of what a friend of mine gave me... which he copped from Limewire. Early 2000's weren't as different as today, actually. goddamm.... those were good times.... i miss Austin, i miss. I miss Alexisonfire.... i miss my youth.... straight up, enjoy it while you can kids. it's over so fast, and that's not just a cliche thing to say.

Well said man. It’s crazy how absolutely relatable in so many ways what you said is. In obviously completely different experiences from the other side of the world, I resonate so much with what you’re saying and have lived those very words in different ways. I turn 34 at the start of March, and it’s this almost lump in my throat when I come back to goodies like this that I had so much connection with, every time, and literally hear the memories and could cry. At the innocence and naivety. It’s this awesome, beautiful, but sad nostalgic mindset and moments and experience. I do it often. And you’re right to the younger gen, live it while you can. We lose close people over these almost 20 years that seem like 5 mins. People we share experiences and now beautiful memories with. 10 years just goes, mark my words. The same words that were said to me as a teenager. Cherish friends. Let go of bad fruit. Love, and don’t worry, you’ll love again and be loved. Life’s hard. But we are all these incredibly unique beings that can tolerate this here human experience, well mostly anyway. Don’t give up on being good. Try. Learn. Give. Laugh. Experience!

@@juggernautproduktion Just turned 34. I saw them for the first time in 2003 when they and Death From Above were opening for Billy Talent when they just broke out. George tackled a security guard and we all rushed and jumped the barricades and moshed on stage with them. As you said, this just makes me want to go back to those days, just for the music. Nothing else about that time in my life was great, but watching this just makes me remember how the music made me feel, and I don't think anything else will ever match that.

Yeah bro I hear you, I miss this who period in time , so many great bands, so many awesome shows , every Friday there would be a shpw at this little club near where I used to live. Those were the best years of my life and I'll never lose those memories. So much good music but so few people ever heard it and knew about it , being part of that whole scene back then was like a secret society almost , we all lived for the underground shit bands that simply made good music didn't matter if they only played local venues and had an LP out or if they'd "made it big" and actually played the bigger venues and wrote multiple albums , I loved them all the same but especially Alexis on fire , always loved their sound and music, especially their earlier few albums, they were literally one of a kind never heard another band like them.
