Myka’s friend said there is much more to the story and it doesn’t make the couple look good so that’s part of the reason why we’ll probably never hear the full story. I find what Myka and her husband did to be completely selfish and despicable. They raised money online and received money from the videos on Huxley. I cannot believe they “rehomed” their former child. Most people wouldn’t even “rehome” their pet. Clearly they were in this for the wrong reasons. I do think part of them did care for Huxley but after watching some of their videos, it is clear they favored their biological kids over him. What’s even more frustrating is their crying, whining and begging for grace. They say they care about Huxley’s privacy so they won’t share more. They didn’t care about his privacy when they made money off his videos so why now?

As a half-way intelligent, responsible adult you should be aware that if you have or adopt a child (or even a pet) bad things can ALWAYS happen down the line. There can always be accidents or illnesses in the future, it's the way of life. If you decide to have/adopt another living being, you take on the responsibility to care for them no matter what, knowing it might become difficult in the future. You do sign up for all of it, the moment you commit to that decision. If you don't know that or are not ready to make that commitment you honestly have no business being a parent (or even a pet owner).

When they adopted Huxley they shopped for a special needs boy! They said it did not matter what was wrong that they where good with all but 1% of special needs I wonder what the 1% was? They where looking for a child that would work on our heart string and it worked fans gave money, fans tuned in everyday, fans bought the sponsored products it is all sick!

I know, it’s very confusing when they knew what they were getting into. I have no words 😞
@Everloveme774 жыл бұрын
The fact they shopped for a special needs child and then claimed it was "too much" was terrible. They could only adopt from two different countries because they had kids already (3 I believe) and she did not suffer from fertility issues. So most places will not adopt because of these things in hopes the adoption is more successful. So it was terrible to see they made these choices and then when it was not "perfect" they gave up. To add she also got pregnant again. Which many assume that added to them giving up. Either way my heart is with Huxley and as a mother with a son with special needs, I truly hope he finds a home that is able and willing to love him! He deserves so much better than that situation.

Thank you for your insightful information on this sensitive issue. My husband and I are the parents (not biological) to an amazing 14 year old daughter who is on the spectrum. Life for us was changed the day this bundle of joy came into our lives. Yes there have been issues but we had issues with our biological daughter too who was not on the spectrum but had medical problems her age now is 34 married and a mum. At no point in time did we consider giving either child up though it’s been a financial strain at times especially as we get no support from our Governments NDIS funding as we were lost in the system. We will always be our daughters parents and do everything possible to help miss 14 to become a caring responsible adult no matter how hard it is the good time’s far outweighs the hard times. Our daughter is kind,friendly, generous, forgiving and loving not judgmental at all. That’s all we can ask for is a good hearted person and we have her. I find what these people did abhorrent as a parent and also as a human being.

Thank you for sharing your perspective as it's a very needed one. As somone who works with kids, this whole thing saddens me. Huxley is non-verbal and he's probably very traumatized. He was probably traumatized before getting there and now even more so. They seem to have wanted a child with special needs to exploit and, as you pointed out, they had resources and could have gotten him help to give him the best life possible. I hope Huxley finds a family willing to give him the life he deserves.

When you adopt a child, you have a life long commitment! Yes, it's freaking hard! But you are their parent! Never in a million years would I ever think to give up my kids no matter how hard it may be! My heart is broken for that little adorable boy! 💔

This story has brought up so many thoughts and feelings for me, and I’ve really been wanting to talk about them. I first want to say I do not support their family’s decision to rehome this child and give him to a new family. My sister was also adopted from China and she is JUST AS MUCH my sister as my biological brother. There is no difference, and I can’t think of any circumstances in which we would ever give her away to another family. I agree with what you said: when you adopt a child, you are making a COMMITMENT to that child, to be their family from then on. However, I am also an ABA therapist and I work with young children with Autism and severe problem behaviors every day. Because of that, I can say that I do understand if the family felt that they just did not have the capacity to take care of the child, or if they felt that their other siblings were being hurt by the situation. My coworkers and I are regularly hurt by children under 5 years old, from open wound bites to concussions. Some parents genuinely cannot provide the help and support that would best help these children on their own. That being said, I STILL do not support them choosing to rehome the child. If anything, they should have gotten him the help he needed or found a good residential facility that could give him that help, but he would still be their child and they could visit and support him in that way. I also feel SICK thinking about the way this child and his story have been exploited by the parents for years, and that they would still have the audacity to completely rehome him is crazy to me. I would think they would have the resources to get him the help that he needs without having to give him to a new family. Overall, I think this was handled so poorly, and more than anything, my heart aches for Huxley. I truly hope that his new family is going to be wonderful and can provide him with the help that he needs (I believe I read that his new mother has professional training to work with children with developmental disabilities, so I am optimistic about that).

Dude, I wouldn’t even be willing to rehome my cat, let alone one of my children. It doesn’t matter adopted or biological, they’d be mine and my babies. That said, I have a question. I speak Mandarin Chinese and as such have considered adopting from China. Would it be helpful for a kid if an adopted parent was able to speak Mandarin or would it make things more difficult for the child?
@piiinkDeluxe4 жыл бұрын
as far as i know, and i am no professional by any means, it would help them a lot. Especially in the beginning. it is a cultural shock anyway and this will make them feel less foreign and they would be able to communicate and understand from the start. it is also good for them when they learn where they come from and learn about the culture of their home country. if you have other kids, let them take part as well.
@Hollyfae4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing your take. My heart hurts for this little boy. When you chose to become a parent - bio or adoptive - you have to take that commitment seriously. You are that child's shelter from all storms. As a mom, the idea of giving any of my kids away - regardless of their issues (autism and epilepsy) - is the stuff of nightmares. I can't imagine how they sleep at night. Hopefully the little guy will end up with people who have compassion for him, it doesn't sound like that was the case previously (based on this situation) Sidenote: my 8 year old son just popped his head in to see what i was watching and said, " SHE IS BEAUTIFUL." Nice to be reminded :)

I loved watching this video and looking at your perspective. I myself am a mother of a child with autism level 3, he’s 7 and nonverbal and not potty trained so he’s very similar to sweet Huxley. This hurt me knowing she rehomed this child because she would’ve never done that to her biological kids. I could’ve never imagined giving my son away, it’s not even an option and I feel that should’ve been the same for Huxley.

Hi Alex, My husband and I had a daughter with profound birth defects that we were not aware of born in 2013. She was born with esophageal atresia with TEF, heart murmur, dilated left kidney and brain damage aka cerebral palsy. Not once did we think of giving her up. Not once! She spent 4 months almost in the nicu where she coded twice. She’s almost 7 and has had 40 surgeries. We didn’t know beforehand of her issues but even if we did we would have kept her. She will need medical care until the day she passes away and that will never deter us from loving and keeping her.

At first I had no idea who these people are until I realized I used to watch Stauffer Garage. Not really sure why Myka is the only one being cancelled, it most likely wasn't only her decision to abandon Huxley. Also, it was very illuminating to see your perspective, this video was very important to anyone who doesn't think "rehoming" (or whatever she wants to call it) is wrong. When you adopt a child, you don't get to decide you don't want them anymore.

The issue at hand is horrible. I too have a child with ASD, a child conceived by fertility specialists. He is an only child. People always ask, why don't you have another. Well why? Because having a child with special needs is very very difficult. It requires lots of time and tons of patience. Others that have multiple children often don't give attention to their other children because the child with ASD requires lots of time for therapies and often the household revolves the child's emotional needs. Couples that have a child with special needs have higher chances of divorce. It puts lots of stress in the couple. It is very very stressful. You loose friends, relatives and often do not get invited to social gatherings' due to the emotional meltdowns of your child, that last for a long period of time up 1hr. Your child doesn't fit in with typical peers as they get older...its a painful. Going back to the issue at hand, adopting....international or local is a very honorable service. Getting educated and networking on resources to help the family cope with all the necessary challenges.

I don't want to repeat what everyone else already stated, I just want to say that I feel that Huxley is definitely better off with someone else who cares about him, and takes care of his needs. I am aware of stress that this child is exposed to, but imagine how this family would treat him if there wasn't an option to return him, since they weren't capable of meeting his needs and handled themselves the way they did. I read a comment that Myika wrote on fb asking what to do about Huxley's fixation with food, expressing that it creeps out her husband, and the rest of the children- and this was in 2019. Imagine how mistreated he would be having stayed with them, since she would get annoyed with his needs and duck taped his finger because he is sucking his thumb.

Something isn’t right with the situation. The authorities are now involved. “Re homing” an adopted child is basically black market adoption. Zero regulations. I’m adopted (clearly not from another country) My parents both worked full time. I wasn’t born with delays, but born from a 14 yr old addict. So I had my own set of issues. Honestly, this is the kind of stuff that terrifies me. I am not adopted, but I am in a situation that could easily put me into the foster care system if the right people found out. I see a lot of myself in Huxley, since I have multiple mental illnesses/disorders; the big "scary" one is OSDD-1B, along with just being a teenager could label me as a "difficult" child to adopt. I think what this family did was incredibly immature and irresponsible, and I hope that Huxley will find a good home.

I just wanted to say thank you for this video and for the video that you shot after this with your mom. I found it very interesting to hear your take on this incident. Having gone through a failed adoption attempt with someone very near and dear to my heart I cannot imagine giving up a child after bonding with them for 3 years. In the course of the adoption that wasn't my very dear friend spent a week... just a week... with this baby. My friend was adopting as a single parent and the baby turned out to have severe disabilities and require 24/7 care by someone who was licensed. The adoption that wasn't broke everyone involved for a while. I can't even imagine breaking a bond after having a child for years. That child was in our lives for a week. My friend did go on to successfully adopt a child that they are able to care for fully. But none of us will ever forget the adoption that wasn't. It was probablyThe hardest decision my friend had ever had to make in her life but it was the necessary choice. She made it through with the support of her agency.

I was adopted locally roughly 5 years ago, I wasn't in a system, let alone a whole other country. I had a woman come into my life who acted like she cared and loved me and she took care of me for a while. When we separated, it was hard on me. I'm a 17 year old. I cannot imagine how hard it would be for a nonverbal CHILD to have a family presented and then taken away. Especially when you don't comprehend the situation, nor do you realise that the way they've treated you was wrong on so many accounts. I hope Huxley is safe.

It’s so GROSS that she ASKED subscribers for $ and monetized videos with him. In their crying video she’s wearing a watch that costs over $1,000! After they returned Huxley, they went in a trip to BALI!!! That’s an EXPENSIVE trip! Money was no issue for them so they could’ve helped him with whatever he needed. It’s not like he was violent and hurting them, hurting the other kids, etc. When u adopt u “don’t know what you’re getting” but u also “don’t know what you’re getting” when u have your OWN biological children. You might be able to tell about major birth defects and things like Down syndrome but you won’t know about developmental disabilities and delays when birthing your own child from your own womb. She wouldn’t return her biological children so why is Huxley different? When u adopt a child it shouldn’t be with the intention to treat them differently than the biological children. Idk I could go on forever because this whole situation makes me SO ANGRY. You don’t keep a child for THREE YEARS and then “return” it. I PRAY he isn’t emotionally traumatized later in life but also his WHOLE LIFE is on the internet already WITHOUT his consent. Ok sorry let me stop lol. Thanks for making this video it makes me want to speak on this as well.
