For shoulders: you can do a similar design to what Nasa is doing for their new EVA suits For elbow: a gimble but the rods are made of actuators (definitely requires research and some trial and error) For armor "covering": Green foam can be used with cnc to create a mould and then CARBON FIBRE/FIBRE GLASS can be used as the composite materials for the shape. His genius should stand alone, not be co-opted by some enterprise. Hacksmith team feels corporate like the team that created the suit for Obidiah (Ironmonger). @@Ethan_and_Astra Yeah, I get the feeling it's the difference between a pure youtube channel and an engineering firm with a youtube channel. While the hacksmith isn't an engineering firm by any stretch, things have definitely gotten more company-like as it's expanded. In an odd juxtaposition, now that they have the money for the crazy/weird/oddball projects, they also have responsibility and people to answer to, and these things prevent these project from becoming reality.

Despite being completely useless in real life.
@daremixman59193 жыл бұрын
I agree with Benjamin and Ethan. As much as I love the Hacksmith, it seems it has fallen in the "pit of ego," as some say, where a youtube channel has grown so much in fame to a point where they hire a team. On the other hand, it is a big milestone for them which should be congratulated. However, the "pur[ity]," as you said, has shifted due to the addition of employees who will do much of the work shown in the video, while people such as James come in at the end to either do a "finishing piece," or to test it. A good example of this, I believe, is Linus Tech Tips, though here, Linus himself certainly does a bit more.

I have some suggestions (which you sort of implied that you wanted in the video so I'm going to take that as an invitation): I might be young and not know what I am talking about, but you could try to make the reactor a different shape inside the chassis of the chest plate. Changing the geometry of it and maintaining the volume will keep the aesthetic and probably allow more function. I don't know if you would be willing to do this because it's true to the movie the way you have it. I made some sketches of a possible way to increase mobility (*there is a link below*). I could make this in CAD if my drawings look terrible, but this is the best I could do with the time that I have. The addition to the arm is that it is possible for rotation in the forearm. The sliding thing would be curved around the base of the joint side of the forearm part of the brace thing. It might be misleading because the sketches are not isotropic 3D sketches. I doubt it will really work that well and there would be a lot of friction. You could obviously lubricate the slide-well. Here is the google slide I put it on: docs.google.com/presentation/d/1-7Umfda_X4T6M-7vCcw0OyawN4sK0U2P2rQ-9SIPVJ4/edit?usp=sharing I would also invest in sorbothane. It's pretty good cushioning in my opinion. It could protect you and the armor if you took some sort of impact or overload of forces. Like lets say a valve breaks for some reason... that wouldn't be good.

Hey I have a idea for you!!❤️ You can use many lithium sulfer batteries instead of electrolyzer like hacksmith did in his leaf blower video and stored around 50 kw, but hacksmith used lithium polymer not lithium sulfer but lithium sulfur is 5 times more powerful so just make circle of batteries like hacksmith and put it in your chest plate I hope you read this comment maybe modify my idea to get better results and give me a heart to let me know that you read my comment please🙏

I think you need to read an anatomy book for muscles. It would be very useful. Then I think the armor should consist of 3 layers. In the first layer, there will be a coating that will cover our skin. In the second layer there should be muscles motor wiring conduit and other things. The third layer should be the outer armor, that is, it should be the hardest layer, so it should actually be like our skin. If I have any other ideas, I will write again.Actually, I would like to do this too, but I have no time and no money so I cannot. I hope one day I can do something like you🙃

@@its_argho There is currently no way to go up without it showing. Hacksmith made a cool ground suit. Also, by making these suits after iron man's we are limiting ourselves to that, when if we did it a different way it would be better.

Love your videos Alex Lab! As an engineer around the world watching, I have so many more ideas than you would ever want to hear about how to build the suit! I've worked on a couple similar projects of my own, you're right, armor is hard- I would recommend avoiding joints all together, and instead of trying to make a metal joint that doesn't limit mobility to much, focus on covering most of your body. Then use straps around the joints the connect upper arm pieces to lower arm pieces, upper arm to torso, and lower arm to hand. Then if you really feel like you need armor around the joint, use either chain mail, or make a small pully system attached to a small metal plate that would cover the joint so that when you go to move your arm for example, the flexion of the bicep will pull on the pully, drawing the small metal plate (covering the joint) away from the joint so your arm has room to bend. That's just my first thought, thanks so much for all the awesome, inspiring stuff you're doing, I love it!

7:52 so internal thermoelectric plating, and a liquid cooling system with tubing run along areas where the body loses a lot of heat. that way you can always warm or cool your body, and if the liquid coolant gets too hot you can start harvesting that heat with the thermoelectrics to power active cooling. I'm definitely got some ideas for joints and attachment points as well, but I'm going to try to put them down on paper and maybe make a video
