Gentrification of Canning Town, the poorest area of London. Regeneration of East London ghettos 🇬🇧

Canning Town is the area of contrasts: the worst London ghetto with high crime rates, unemployment and poverty and luxury apartments of newly built City Island that are located on the Thames. I am exploring the multi-billion plan of the Newham borough to regenerate the area.

Nice video! Just to clarify, London City Island, Trinity Buoy Wharf and Goodluck Hope are not part of Newham, they are part of Tower Hamlets, just like Canary Wharf and they also share the E14 postcode ( compared to E16 common to Canning Town, Newham side ).

Wealthy people: People are poor in this area of London, let's reduce poverty by developing it and making it a nice people to live.# Poor people: But then prices will sky-rocket and we'll be forced to move. Rich people: Exactly, we will reduce poverty in London by forcing poor people out- keep that 3x the national average per capita investment in infrastructure and service spending for those who matter, good services, good transport and nice livable cities are for us special people- you don't get a Bentley for working hard, you need to be born with a golden enema in your arse for that, why should poor people born sans enema be able to live somewhere nice, then I'd have to look at them!

Well said in my home town Dublin developers built rent only over priced appartments in areas that were once no go areas of the northeast inner city and the old docklands now the foreign tennants who work in nearby hitec districts complain that they see poor people from their windows in the last remaining council flats

Canning Town is fine... Been around many areas and not as bad as people think. There is a lot of regeneration taking place which is great.

The problem is all of the new build are either private rent or to own. When a new build is constructed the landlord on has to give 10% back to families on the waiting list 😢

What a really bad false video! It’s not even in the top 10 places of highest crime rate. Poorest? Westminster is the most dangerous area in London. The only crime in your video is you sneaking into peoples buildings. I’ve grown up near Canning Town for 38 years and lived in Canning Town for 3 years… I’m not ever going to say crime doesn’t happen as it does everywhere, but I’ve never physically seen crime myself 1095 days while living here. Would love to know where you got your “facts” from!
