If you weren't open to the impossible and only sticks to the current rules of the universe, you're just in the same state of the common citizens before the modern days that reject every new theory that has been proven to this day. Bethany Coomes not easily! I’m not from the US, but it isn’t much different. I used to work with this woman in the UK who was married to man that was a quite a bit older (he’d be in his 80s now) and was born into a Romany family. They’d never registered his birth. He didn’t have a birth certificate, national insurance number, which is like a social security number, he couldn’t get a passport and he couldn’t work unless it was off the books. Luckily healthcare is easier in the UK, if you have a British accent no one even thinks twice about questioning if you should be getting completely free healthcare or not! It was a bit rubbish for them though! He didn’t even try to make himself “legal” until he was in this 30s, and by then no one could remember when exactly he was born! They didn’t celebrate birthdays so no one really bothered to keep track. He wasn’t exactly sure how old he was even.

Science accepts the POSSIBILITY of the "impossible." It's the thing all the armchair scientists punching their keyboard keys don't get. Actual science would say, "So a man appeared from nowhere and the only logical conclusion based on a lack of DNA and evidence that he's anything other than from the past" would go, "Time travel must be possible." It's totally illogical, unexplainable, but all the evidence in her situation literally points to this man being from the past. As was written, "Once you eliminate the impossible" as in what can't have happened based on evidence, not your own ideas of possibility, "Whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth." So if aliens invade and we can prove it's not a hoax, even if it is to our current understanding IMPOSSIBLE for life to exist on other planets, the fact that they're here means it's the truth, plain and simple. Empirical evidence and all that shit.

In the end, she also decide to go back to his time to live happily ever, but after a year he becomes one of the victim of the Black Death, so she is stuck in 1300's England, alone, and her knowledge of science, make other people uneasy, so she becomes secluded. Wishing to go back to her time, she begins to study magic, and try to find any artefact related to time travelling, that is where she finds a blue medallion working only around Christmas time, so she goes back in time to find her Cole and..you guessed it, all this time, the old lady in forest was in fact V-Hughe from another timeline trying to repair the mistake from the past. BOOM!
