Well she wanted NYU, living in NYC and paying tuition even with basic scholarships can cost you about $50k upwards of hundreds of thousands overall throwing in living expenses. You need really good scholarships, affordable housing and hope your college in the university is one of the cheaper ones. My winter classes at NYU were devasting blows to my pockets but state college the rest of the year helped.

Thinking about my high school experience now, ten years later, I remember that, although I wasn't the most unpopular kid in the school, I was stressed all the time thinking about what other people think about me. I dabbled in suicidal thoughts and managed to get out of that on my own, and so on. In conclusion, I would most definitely not do it all over again. And, as Alex said, life does keep getting better after graduation.

I love that you draw attention to teenage media that portrays high school as the be-all-end-all. For me, I couldn't wait to leave high school and carve my own path. Wholesale Ted the writers for this romcoms are all adults so they know that high school in retrospect is nothing compared to what you get to experience once you actually ARE a grownup (20/25 onward) but they do have to appeal to teens who are the audience, hence the usage of hot 20 yolds who act like being 16 is the MOST IMPORTANT MOMENT IN YOUR LIFE

The way the opening narration worded the summer after high-school made me laugh so hard. But seriously, so much aimed at teens is created by people who peaked in high-school. And don't get me wrong, everyone's "best years" where they really hit their stride come at different times and if yours do happen to be in high-school that's ok, but for most people those years come later in life. Most people who graduate high-school still have their best years ahead of them. So we need more teen content made by people who didn't peak in high-school so that teens don't hear the implication that "this is as good as it ever gets" and "its all downhill after high-school" during which, for most of them, is just a "meh" time in their life, and (more importantly) what for some of them will turn out to have been the worst time of their lives. We need more teen stuff that says high-school is just a time and whether its the worst, best, or most indifferent time of your life isn't set in stone.

I was angry because they didn't take in account the poor guy's feelings. Like, it's HIS DAD who is cheating, if it was any other guy who he saw cheating with the girls mom it would be reasonable that she was mad.
