Lindsey said that women who spoke out about abuse (metoo) were weak. She sided with Harvey Note: she apologized when people got upset and said she didn’t know anything about how they felt bc it never happened to her (this could be denial but regardless, she sucks) I do think getting better is good in general though. Addiction is one ugly monster

@@shift7808 The trauma that results from being in the spotlight that young is what caused her addictions. Addictions shouldn't be looked at punitively, but should be seen as a symptom that needs to be treated. It can be argued that the public's desire to see famous people fall is a large part of the problem that fuels the toxic climate that brings on the implosion of stars, and especially child stars. Yes, she turned to substances, but none of us helped the situation by buying the tabloids and clicking on the articles that cashed in on her difficulties. Hollywood can be a toxic place and is a poor place to grow up.

I have seen many Hallmark movies (really Hallmark) of the recent years and they are rarely bad. By bad I mean completely predictable and boring, stories that make zero sense, weak character development, etc. Hallmark movies are successful for a reason, they're not any of that. They're usually very nice movies and not supposed to be straight up bad like you say.

Child stars rarely go on to have adult performing careers. There are a lucky, talented few who manage, like Lindsay Lohan, Leonardo DiCaprio, & Drew Barrymore, and many others who aren't as lucky. Dana Plato, Heather O'Rourke, Todd Bridges, River Phoenix, Macauley Culkin, to name a few. The problem isn't the stars, it's the audience. The audience doesn't like seeing their childhood darlings grow up. It means they have to grow up, too, and they don't like being reminded.
@Treychik

@@richarda29 erm...have you watched any interviews with those child stars and documentaries on their lives? Some of them literally go though hell: Corey Feldman - abuse, tons of 'alleged' rape cases and stuff goes down spiral...almost similar with Macauley Culkin - problems with parents (that wanted only their kid's money), abuse and 'alleged' rape by some of the producers or whatever. The Terminator 2 kid...same thing - parent problems, drugs etc-etc-etc...these people deserve better. I'm glad that some of them actually are coming back and doing much better. They all should be cheered up...they've been through hell. so audience has nothing to do with the actor's problems (the Star wars prequels kid is an exclusion! - people were assholes towards this poor guy...I hated the way they had dialogues, but never blamed the kid...not his fault, he tried his best)

@@specialagentweener1073 Lindsay Lohan didn't lose her talent. It's a starter film for her to get back into the groove. The last time she acted was doing season two of _Sick Note_ in early 2018 in the UK, which was her acting comeback. Her role in _Among the Shadows_ (2019) was shot in Nov 2015 in Belgium and she also did a short film _Till Human Voices Wake Us_ in early 2015. _Falling for Christmas_ was shot between Nov/Dec 2021 in Utah. So it marks almost 4 years since she last acted, exactly 6 years since she last acted in a movie, and its release marks over 13 years since the release of her last romcom _Labor Pains_ in 2009. She just filmed her next Netflix movie _Irish Wish_ between Sep/Oct 2022 in Ireland and it's far more elaborate. It's a return to form and involves her character magically swapping lives with her best friend the day before the latter's wedding.

My grandparents took me skiing and I got a lesson. Anyways, the rest of the class was on top of this slope and there were two ways to go, down the slope or straight on a flat surface. We were all agreeing on going straight bc we were too nervous to go down the "steep" hill. But ofc I just slowly started sliding backwards down the slope and I didn't know how to stop so I slid all the way down the hill we didn't want to go on until I landed in the snow bank and got stuck. I remember hearing our instructor say, "welp, guess that's decided" and he had to help me out 💀 fun trip tho lmao

@sansyeux I disagree- sure they are mostly predictable but the good ones still find ways to keep it fun and engaging- they are full of character development and the conflict exists because of the characters not as a plot device. The leads also have chemistry and you are rooting for them. A great example is one of my favourites What’s your number. We get this people pleasing girl who spends her entire life trying to be perfect for everyone around her- she is never herself in relationships and as a result they never work out. Her “perfect” sister is getting married and her mum is overbearing and Critical (makes sense why she is like she is). Then she reads an article in her favourite magazine that is a Study that says most women who sleep with over 20 people can’t find a husband. She then makes a list and finds out she’s slept with 19. Then decides to track down her ex’s- again it’s how she works her belief is that she needs to fit into this societal ideal of women right and find a husband and her worst fear is never having that. She then makes a deal with her neighbour (aka the love interest) who helps her track down her ex’s and meanwhile they form a relationship. This works because the conflict is rooted in The MC’s desire to not be alone and the love interests fear of commitment. But he also is jealous and acts out because he is afraid she will find better than him. It’s not a random conflict and it also isn’t miscommunication is done out of fear and the mc not really knowing who she is. The character development comes because of this argument and her “perfect boyfriend” who she finds with her first love, who her mum approves of, but realises she hasn’t been herself and around the love interest can be herself. Anyways at the end her and the neighbour reunite as she says that she is sorry and that he was right and she can be herself around him. Then he says he’s sorry he’s scared and screwed up. And also realises she does not care about her number and external standards set for her. The fact they are going to Get together is predictable but that’s why I love rom coms- it’s not about how it ends but about the journey it takes them to get there. You are invested because the story is rooted in the characters. The actors have chemistry and it is well written and acted. Where as this film is predictable but it’s not enjoyable because the film itself is very surface level, some scenes go on way longer than they should, the jokes feel like they fall flat, it’s all external conflict- it’s not as if with her memory she is able to start again, there was no desire to prove Herself or desire to escape her life- it wasn’t like a she has everything but love and genuine people- and then she finds it. The characters were tolerable but some were super unlikeable and overall I just wasn’t invested.

I liked it. It's a typical Christmas romcom that mashes up other romcoms, but it was fun. It's great to see Lindsey up to do comedy and silly stuff, not being afraid of it looking silly. It's great to see her getting back into the film industry, hopefully on her own accord. It's strange to see HER in something again, but I'll take it anytime. I once saw an interview where she said she won't do any castings and that she has to be offered the roles. I felt huge amount of fear of rejection and insecurity when she said that and I think that's fair given what she went through. Can't wait to see how it all turns out and where she'll be careers-wise in three years or so. Also the other actors were great too. I enjoy the Todd and forest-man storyline. It felt fresh. And the guy from Glee was a great romcom romantic interest. It wasn't a bad movie and it did exactly what it set up to. And I think that's important thing to remember. They didn't aim for Oscar grungy masterpiece, they wanted to make wholesome and funny Christmas romcom. And they did it.

My mom was watching this movie and I was surprised to see Lindsey Lohan acting again. I watched a little with her while I hung out and Lindsey looks like she was having a fun time making the movie. Glad she’s doing well.

It's not the next "It's a wonderful life", but it's good to see Lindsey Lohan looking so well. 😄

Every person born between the 80s to early 2000s watched the downfall of majority of the child stars. I'm not on her band wagon but I love how much healthier she looks than someone more recent photos. Hopefully that comes with her getting her life together and her getting to a more healthy place mentally and physically. People do and say very wild and crazy things while struggling with addiction. Video was a great summary and funny take on the movie!

This! We can’t imagine the pressure they are under and it’s nice to see people come back into themselves if they want to. Lindsay was a big part of my childhood and it’s good to see her in something even if everyone knows it’s not gonna break any box office records 😂 Enjoy the fact that they’re finding themselves again

But if he recognized her and had her do housework as revenge, then it would’ve just been the movie “Overboard” 😂 I’m just glad to see her back acting even in a cheesy movie like this, and I hope we’ll see her in more Netflix movies in the future 💜 Love your content as always and glad you did this one !

I have seen the gender swapped version of overboard... It was somehow even worse implication wise than the original.

It’s overboard but without the problematic element of him knowing who she is and keeping it from her. I actually like Overboard but there are issues. I enjoyed this for what it was

What you described at the end, Alex, is literally word for word the plot of the Overboard movie. This whole movie is basically the Overboard movie without most of the gaslighting. It is actually funny how little they did to try and hide it xD
