heard this about a month ago and was floored...I read Yngwie was very impressed by her version, he said it made him come full circle to how he originally intended it

Jill is probably the greatest rock violinist since Jean-Luc Ponty, and he basically invented the concept. Thanks for reacting to them.

I first heard this when the album came out in 84, I said at the time I would not be surprised if this was wrote for violin and many heated conversations ensued thereafter!! I was even convinced watching Malmsteen playing at a concert I attended!! It took 37 years for someone to do it....... YES!! suffice it to say a few noses where rubbed in it!! Great reaction big lad, keep it up 😎🤟
@mmasque20523 жыл бұрын
One of Malmsteen’s inspirations is the violinist Paganini, so he probably tried to make his guitar sound like Paganini’s violin. Jill has just brought things full circle.

She is insanely talented. There is no live performance, but she recently livestreamed several time and played it live there. They also did a violin cover of Dream Theater - The Dance of Eternity And once again she livestreamed it, but this time blindfolded, yes the dance of eternity on violin, live, blindfolded. Unfortunately it seems links are block here, so i cant link any of this.

You likely have to be subscribed to their channel membership to watch those videos. They're an independent band, no record label support whatsoever, so I can't blame them for keeping those behind a paywall.

Do a search for "Jill Hypothetical Box Act 3". The video title is mostly in Japanese, but those words are in English. It's from a live stream, look for the video where she has a white blindfold over one eye in the thumbnail, the video is 1:39:19 long. Fast forward to about 23:30, that's when she puts on the blindfold. I just went crazy for days looking for it, so I figure if I can save someone else the time, why not.

@@gigaganon Its not on her channel, its on a secondary unlucky morpheus channel called "Unlucky Morpheus official サブチャンネル" it was posted on january 16 and the thumbnail his her with the blindfold on one eye

I was very excited about the Vanessa Mae album until I actually heard it. What a disappointing piece of garbage. It sounded more like a contractual obligation than any artistic statement. In fact it was much worse than that, as if it was forced slavery.

It makes sense it sounds awesome on violin, since Yngwie guitar style is heavily based on classical violin music.

Just wait until you hear Jill do EVH's Eruption and Tony MacAlpine's Hundreds of Thousands. Jill's violin is combo of a guitar and a set of keyboards for Unlucky Morpheous. She doubles as the 2nd guitarist due to Shiren's physical ailments (he still solos and sings/screams). If you haven't listened to Unlucky Morpheous, I highly suggest you do so.

It's not surprising to me that this sounds great on violin because Yngwie "borrowed" tons of themes and melodies from classical violin. Considering that classical violin is the hardest instrument and music style to play I'de be willing to bet that there are more classical violinists that can play this than there are guitarists that can - it's just that most classically trained violinists have much higher standards and wouldn't even bother learning this..
When you did your reaction video of Angreifer by Unlucky Morpheus, you thought that the violin-guitar duet between Jill and Jinya was epic, and you were really hoping that there was an instrumental version of that song. There was not, but here you got to see an instrumental song with the same Unlucky Morpheus musicians. I think you would also enjoy Jill's violin cover of Eddie Van Halen's "Eruption" kzbin.info/www/bejne/m4XFYYeHqbuHbM0 Also, a couple other Unlucky Morpheus songs with great violin-guitar duets include the live versions of "Black Pentagram" kzbin.info/www/bejne/qXynm42Vpd6YpMk and "Dignity of Spirit" kzbin.info/www/bejne/rmi6aneZirCMlbc

Sorry but malmsteen started guitar at 5yrs old, trained in classical piano by 7yrs old, from a famous classical family and classed as the worlds best in neo classical guitar. Shes really no big deal on the violin tbh, ive heard do much better, nigel Kennedy comes to mind. She gets washed out with the band, yuck
@horowizard3 жыл бұрын
Awesome? Really? They aren't even actually playing in the video. It's completely mimed to a recording. Does the music actually stand on its own without the visual? Not really, unfortunately! Ultimately, it's a very dry and soulless performance when you listen to it without the picture. I have no doubts that everybody in the band is immensely talented and the technique is of top order but let's face it, they're phoning it in.
