I considered this and the CX30. In the end the CX30 2.5 S Carbon Edition won. Stronger engine with nearly similar economy, full leather seats with more luxury interior, rear vents, spare wheel standard, moon roof standard, heated seats as standard, rain sensing wipers as standard. The downside is the practicality and not having parking sensors and 360° round view, and there is no automatic rear brake assist or pro pilot assist hands on. It would cost $1950 extra to add heated seats and moon roof to the kicks which makes it more expensive when comparing the basic MSRP of the two. I would have rather got the Kicks but because it is brand new I was not going to get any discounts on it. In the end the Mazda won hands down after a $5000 dealer and incentives discount of MSRP. I think it is disingenuous to compare the Kicks to the top turbo trim of the CX30.

That was more or less our point, but this was to address the questions about “why doesn’t/didn’t Nissan put a hybrid in the Kicks” which is a frequent question. The answer is because it would have been more expensive and case in point: Corolla Cross Hybrid.

If one is in the market for low priced AWD, for a few hundred more one can get a Subaru Impreza. Arguably the Impreza has a better AWD, CVT, and definitely better resale value. Kicks has a more youthful look but otherwise I'm not sure it offers anything over the Impreza.

I don't like the boxy look. The side profile still looks good but I don't like the front or back end. I don't like those rims either 😢

The rims truly drag it down.

The rims look like they belong on a matchbox car. 😂

Seems pretty competitive for the segment. I have a hard time complimenting any in this segment

I’d still go with the Trax, mainly based on appearance and value. One of the main reasons people buy a car (along with reliability and price) is how it looks and the Trax is just a better looking car, and Nissans aren’t know for being the most reliable of Asian vehicles.
