Starting under $30,000, the new Colorado is hands down the best deal in the midsize segment at the moment. You might find a competitor for the same price, but they won't have the standard feature content or the big cab that the Chevy has standard,

My two cents - the infotainment screen needs to be for infotainment - not for headlights, air conditioning and heat. Frankly the more buttons the better so the driver does not need to go multiple screens deep to change something (while driving).

air conditioning and heat are actual buttons like always they are not on the infotainment screen (or if they are they are just redundant). 99% never use the headlight switch anyways. But unfortunately this means the fog lights have moved over there too which i'm not too happy about.

Eliminating the 6'2" "standard" bed choice in favor solely of the trunklet (and crew configuration) a big NO and forces a lot of buyers to Ranger, Tacoma and Frontier. I know many are going to knee-jerk "...not enough buyers," and that's not where the market and sales are, that most buyers are suburbanites and all they haul are potted plants and mulch from HD, etc, ...but it really reduces the utility as a camper and hauler. As an empty nester--or pre-family folk--a full rear crew cab seat is not needed either in the overall cab vs bed length tradeoff. Just space for the dog or occasional or small (grandkid etc) human passenger(s), pic-a-nic basket, icebox, extra secured gear, etc. The previous (and competition's) "extended cab" variant in combo with the 6+ bed was/is perfect. And not nearly everyone wants/needs the full size truck--along with its entry fee--to get that. Chevrolet: please reassess this omission; before, I'm sure you used the same chassis/frame between the the short box/crew and "long" box/extended combos as they are the same overall length, so... and Chevy had a even longer crew/long box combo, for those that needed the big rear seat AND a regular bed. Admittedly, the latter configuration makes for a long "compact" truck, only about six inches shy of the Silverado's "double" (extended, not crew) cab standard bed OAL, but that choice was nevertheless there.

Seems like the Chevy has a good value proposition here. The only question is its reliability and quality. (I've seen some complaints about paint that does not sound good) A couple of things you showed that I don't like are the headlight controls inside the center stack screen and the electric parking brake. A dedicate knob and a manual foot operated brake that works is all that is needed. The biggest thing is that after 5 years of ownership vs a Toyota, what will be worth more and have given you less problems?

If it helps...."ISee Reports" shows that only 0.8% of Chevy Colorado reach 200,000 mile mark. This is assuming that the truck is lightly used throughout its life which frankly for a small/midsize truck segment. I have a 2000 Tacoma which was used for landscaping and hauling for over 10+ years with 265k on it. I have a 2019 but my 2000 often used as a regular commuter, road trips and camping. Overall, the Toyota is still the way to go especially if you are expecting little to no issues in reaching 100k with the least spent on maintenance and cost of ownership. If you aren't planning on using your truck beyond 100k and have the ability to replace the truck within 4-5 years times. Then I would say go for the Chevy instead just because of the trim

Really disappointed with Alex as there were some gaping wholes in this review. First, it is terrible that Chevy only offers a black seat interior unless you spring for the ZR2. I've seen no other manufacturer do this but GM. I can't imagine they think everyone wants black seats. What Alex calls "grey" inserts on the base trim is still black by even what Chevy calls it. Second, these pricing numbers Alex quotes is hardly believable. If you want a ZR1 with 4wd and a backseat center arm rest, it's over $45K. If you want to see something completely insulting, go price out a Chevy LT or ZR1 and add a backseat center arm rest (something that should absolutely be standard) and because of the required packages you'll find that the cost increases by $3-5K depending on the model. For a backseat to be remotely comfortable for 2 people there needs to be that center arm rest and for Chevy to not make it standard and make you pay as much as they do in various packages just to get it is offensive.

I bought a 23 Colorado, and it's turning out to be the worst mistake of my life. One day the Sirius XM works, one day it doesn't, and it's not Sirius XM's fault, it's GM's lousy bug filled electronics. EVERYTHING is buggy, especially the infotainment system. Plug in a usb to play songs from, good luck with that, it may tell you it's unrecognized, but maybe still play songs from the usb, who knows what it will do. I called a dealer about the XM coming and going and they said I'd have to leave it for a few days for them to check it out. They acted like if they can't fix it too bad. Too bad for GM, cause I'm going to invoke the lemon law and return this POS! (The lemon law states they get three chances to fix it, and then they have to give you a refund for the piece of junk.)

The smartest thing I have heard about the new turbos in the new 3.5L engines in the new tundra and Sequoia is that they will have to be replaced on a regular schedule, just expect it. He compared it to the 2uzfe 4.7l: even though it has legendary reliability, it still has a timing belt replacement scheduled every 90,000 miles. Think of the turbocharger in the same way. True, not much different for most people's actual uses. But on other hand, how is a Ridgeline better than this, other than a bit more interior room and a bit better ride. To me it's more a matter of preference as none of these are objectively very useful.
@kheldaryt

@Jonathan A ya and people say that and it’s true but don’t think for a mid sized it tangibly means anything. Think anyone who needs body on frame “durability” probably just needs a full sided. Just saying what actually is someone doing with a taco that ridgeline wouldn’t do. Probably not pulling anything. Maybe a few people are off roading but most people are simply getting worse mpg and a worse ride for minor image improvement. I’m not hating on anyone who gets a Tacoma, it is good just wildly outdated at this point.

Its a shame nobody makes a small displacement hybrid diesel. Diesels have low hp vs torque and electric motors have instant torque while giving efficient hp. We could have a tow worthy and efficient truck but nobody wants to front the cost. Shoot i would pay 50k for a tacoma sized truck with a 1.8L turbo diesel hybrid making like 250hp and 350ft lb of torque and towing 5-6k lbs. The issue is they dont make trucks with low enough hp to get good fuel efficiency. Hp really only affects your top speed and efficiency whereas torque is what factors in how quickly you can get up to speed and tow. Nobody is racing their trucks...

$30,000 and you can give me 2 large screens and a crew cab truck but you cheap out and don’t have LED light bulbs? Actually, what’s the point of this truck? When I can get a half-ton for nominally more money with much more capability and more comfortable and the same if not better fuel economy, why would anyone buy one of these? If you need a small truck, buy a Maverick. If you need a real truck, buy a half-ton. This truck no longer has a logical purpose.

Cool to have the option at least but with how well this 2.7 outputs hard to really lust after a diesel like I once did. Even if they did manage 35mpg, the savings over a 25mpg gasser would only equate to maybe $30 a month in fuel. Not enough for me to really feel is significant especially with other added costs diesels sometimes incur.
@jhagen4850
@jhagen4850 Жыл бұрын
@@ALMX5DP This thing will NEVER get 25MPG. I'm already seeing in videos around 17MPG on the dash for the WT tester with the low output engine and 14.5MPG on the dash for the Z71. Even if these are being run hard and idling a lot, there is no way you go from 14.5MPG during testing to 25MPG in daily use. You're living in a GM fantasy.
@ALMX5DP
@ALMX5DP Жыл бұрын
@@jhagen4850 can’t predict anything based on the initial drive event. Silverado with the same engine is rated at up to 22mpg highway, so a 2-3mpg bump for this smaller vehicle would not be unheard of. But even if that figure is a bit optimistic, my point remains that the difference would not be significant enough for me to really desire a diesel anymore.

Talk about Shrink-flation hitting the auto industry. I love Grandma cookies 🍪 and now they're really small. Cereal boxes have about 30% less product and cost more.. I sold my 2021 HD high country duramax and boutique a 2013 HD duramax, and currently, I'm working on my 2002 silverado 5.3. I still have my 2019 RST silverado that I bought before the crazy car market went crazy high, and it's almost paid for. Truck wise, I'm good for a while... I will not be buying any type of new car or truck any time soon. Plus, new car warranties are a joke, and the dealership service departments are horrible. It's easier to buy parts at the auto zone to repair old cars than dealing with the B.S. at the dealership

Let me spill on living with the Jeep Gladiator. My Ridgeline was in the shop (accident) for over a month, and the insurance company provided a top line Gladiator Rubicon. For driving around on pavement it is a terrible choice... Gas sucking and noisy tires, maybe 13 mpg.. Small cabin, windshield close to driver.. Decent acceleration but handles like some 1960s sedan. So unless off roading is a need or a weekly avocation, Gladiator should be at the bottom of any list of mid sized trucks.
