Liam Hawgood well I live in Southern California so we only have market squid. They are not very big almost half the size he was catching. You can’t go out in the shallows and catch squid during the day normally it’s done at night in deeper water with big lights. Looks like a lot of fun to me. Do you think he could of let a couple of them go? Idk cause I don’t fish for them. I don’t know how far the meat goes.

Nice catch. I'd suggest using a small handline for the squid. Much easier and leaves your hands free for the rod. You can just tie off the handline at a set length and then you only have to toss it straight back ready for the next one without any hassle.

Great video Alex. I was out there last Sunday but didn’t have any hits. It was very busy with kayaks, paddle boards and boats. The boaties were moving around a fair bit looking for a bite I gather.

I wouldn't be hanging a keeper net over the side of that thing. I have a mate that used to lease a pro licence and fish that area every morning, not that long ago. He used to report large whites regularly of kingston piont close in and around the pole. He said that if the kayakers had seen what he has seen.... His words....Ï'ts just a matter of time". I'm not saying dont do it, but dont increase your chances either mate.

Hey mate! Some great spots to start off kayak fishing are Seacliff, wirrina cove, west lakes, port river or the onkaparinga river. They are all quite easily accessible and hold plenty of fish.

It's gorgeous! Yes we quite often have sharks close to shore but they aren't much of a concern unless you bother them. Most of the time they are bronze whaler sharks which are near harmless to humans. I'd be more bothered by the seals to be honest!
