Oh My Girl are objectively one of the strongest vocal teams active in kpop and have one of the strongest discographies, but it just never gets said because Int fans ignore them. They should be million sellers but they will never catch that hype wave now. They deserve the world though. I have listened to this for the gazillion times and still getting goosebumps! especially ending with Classified where their vocals have risen to another level of their career!! The way Classified was sung was like climbing a flight of stairs to heaven... lol They have everything, vocals, visuals, dance choreography, sense of humour, great personalities and absolutely great to watch them and find much enjoyment in a world of music that can completely de-stress....

Originally an 8 members group, they're down to 6 now. their discography are amazing if you're interested. they have several concepts, but mainly, they're more into a fairy/whimsical/fantasy concept. followed by summer concepts and several fierce/girl crush concepts. the last ones are mainly their b sides though. they're a bit underrated amongst the 3rd gen, yet they did pull several winning concepts during their stints at Queendom, placing 3rd, 1st, 1st and... 2nd

Like you said, OhMyGirl is amazing. Great singing, great visual, 1 of the best choreography in the kpop, and they are soooo funny when they appear in show program. Secret Garden & The Fifth Season are my 2 all-time favorite girl group songs ever.

OMG basically has 2 large blocks of types of songs they sing (with obvi other songs here and there that are in other genres).....airy/dreamy/fairy concept songs (those are the ones that tend to have a LOT of side chain and reverb and echo to create that fantasy type sound) and harder summer bop "dance" type songs. Their songs aren't OVERLY complicated, they tend to stick to a single theme or chord progression and will really strategically place only a few key changes or half time beat drops or genre shifts but not like modern 4th/5th gen girl groups are doing now where it sounds like 5 different songs in a 2 and half minute span (outside of Drip, that song is kind of crazy BUT....even with all the tempo shifts and beat changes, they never change the key. This is the beauty of their songwriting, they're actually very restrained and put a LOT of thought in making sure each song is a complete piece) . Their company, above all else, stresses VOCALS as the essential skill to have (the logo of their company is even a recording studio mic suspension frame). What many international fans miss, tho, is their lyrics are so friggin beautiful in korean. A LOT of their songs the lyrics are written by Seo Ji Eum who is a god when it comes to lyrics (case in point, google the lyrics to Remember Me which starts with this heavy EDM beat....the lyrics even when translated to english are QUITE beautiful with this bopping dance beat under it) These girls are pros pros......you don't last 10 years in the kpop industry without having the chops and being this good. In korea they're known as the idol of idols because so many other kpop idols have come out and said they're fans or their favorites (Mamamoo, IU, girls from Lovelyz, girls from Red Velvet, the list goes on and on) They really struggled early on and the song Secret Garden (the one where they were putting up their first fingers) was their make or break song. Their CEO said if that album didn't do well they would release the girls from their contracts and disband the group. The song ended up being their first #1 and first win. They really EXPLODED in popularity after they appeared on the first season of Queendom (a competition show between established kpop groups) in 2019 and while they technically didn't win the competition, they really did win given the success they immediately got post Queendom OMG is definitely a throwback to how the kpop industry USED to be before international marketing, social media, girl crush, over reliance on choreo over vocal skills took over girl group kpop Left to Right: (obviously they're ALL vocalists) YooA: main dancer, only member to have solo kpop comebacks Hyojung: leader, oldest, main vocalist. Known for ALWAYS smiling and never understanding the concept of the song bc she's always smiling. (there's a famous picture of her during a concert falling off the stage and even while falling she's still smiling). Known for having the most STABLE vocals in kpop, often participates in vocalist-entric programs and k variety shows Arin: maknae, (now) visual, has acted a lot Mimi: rapper, recently popping up a LOT on k variety Yubin (formerly known as Binnie): sub-vocalist, has the lowest most gritty vocal range Seunghee: K-variety genius and main vocalist, known as the 11 yr old BoA for when she appeared at age 11 on all these national competition shows Former members: Jin-E: left after 2 years for health reasons Jiho: left a few years ago after their first 7 year contract was fulfilled. Was the original visual of the group and hahaha......before Start Up when she said "seh album" and you thought she said 3rd, she actually was saying "new" album. 3rd would've been "seh beun jae album"....BUT, I applaud your effort! Korean is exceedingly difficult bc words have multiple multiple multiple meanings

Their song "Closer" is my favorite K-Pop song and video of all time. Their choreography is even in the form of constellations when seen from above! It's probably not for everyone but fantasy stories and sad, haunting chords always draw me in 😁 If you want to check out soloists, YooA from this group has some great music also 😀

Oh My Girl is my favorite girl group. 'Windy Day' is my favorite song by them, and my favorite K-pop song overall. 'Windy Day' immedidiately being followed by 'Remember Me' describes my tastes in music perfectly.

OMG is part of the first wave of 3rd generation groups that have remained active and popular until now. They were the senior and model of groups like Twice and all the girl groups that have the same concept. In several interviews, the members of Twice tell how much they love and respect OMG. - However, OMG really took off late in 2019 with their title Fith season and then completely flew over the charts with titles like Non stop and Dolphin. Their popularity grew after their appearance on the show Queendom. - Now OMG is celebrating its 10th anniversary and are in some ways seen as the queens of summer because they make a comeback every year, usually in summer and their titles are often very popular at this time of year.

Wow, thank you for your great reaction There are groups that excel in vocals, some in dance, and some with their songs, but Oh My Girl is a girl group that is very high-quality in terms of vocals, rap, visuals, skills, dance choreography, formations, and even their presence on reality shows. If there's something that makes them less well-known, it's because they're not from the Big 3/Big 4 (they're from a small agency) that doesn't have enough funds nor connections and promotions, and that impacts their international exposure (they're less famous outside South Korea). It affects their sales and leads to a smaller fanbase, which makes it harder for them to succeed in competitions that rely heavily on votes, especially international ones. Besides their talent, another fantastic thing about them is that even though they sometimes only have a comeback once a year, they never let their discography or B-side tracks be mere fillers. All their songs are always great and high-quality. You can play them on random if you don't believe it. Beyond their EPs, their ability to cover songs is also outstanding, and even their solo performances are incredible

OMG are honestly criminally underrated by the International kpop fandom. They get highly ignored despite being insanely talented both as vocalists and rappers but also as dancers. I definitely recommend diving deeper into Oh My Girl as well as YooA (girl in white with black hair) solo stuff.
