At that my friends is why you do not cut high on the back cut (2:22). You basically cut through the hinge and the tree came off the stump way too early. Fortunately the tree was going in the right direction.

What chain you running just a standard round ground full chisel? I bought my self a 25ft roll of full skip square ground jeez it’s a good chain and I also trialled a duro chain both very impressive 👍🏼
@AlexSwan6 жыл бұрын
G'day Ben, not sure what it's called exactly but it's a standard 3/8 super chisel non-skip... I am yet to try a full skip chain. Not sure if it's of any benefit in hardwoods. What sort of timber do you cut? Cheers

I’m from hunter valley in NSW so I dare say not a great deal different to you ironbark and gums I think mainly but yeah very hard wood. I’ve been cutting split posts a lot lately all iron bark probably been on the ground 6-8 weeks and when I’m cutting posts the full skip square is far superior I’ve found. I guess it helps clearing chips create a lot when doing posts so I just find it keeps the cut a whole lot cleaner. Also I just like trying different things so couldn’t help myself ha cheers

@@benfairhall5331 Nice, yeah that's what I heard too... full skip should come in handy for ripping posts to clear all dem noodles. Will have to try a semi skip or full skip next time too. Not doing a whole lot of felling at the moment unfortunately but will probably get a chance to finish bucking the three trees from this vid here at the end of the week. Are you planning on doing any mods on yours at all or just run it stock? Would love to have it ported, just for the fun of it.

@@benfairhall5331 Cool, I'm not too sure whether the muffler mod has been good for it. Sounds rad, but yeah not sure if it's got any more power. It might, just failed to do some proper testing. I wonder if there is anyone in Australia who is good at porting. Never come across any legends other than the usual suspects from the US. Make sure you grab a bit of footage with a gopro or something once you got that 28 ES Light bar. Would be good to see/hear another 462 with the same muffler mod. I'll be post some more vids too. Still got some footage here from the last falling job where a smallish gum fell the opposite direction. Oooops. I knew there was a chance of it happening, could have been avoided, but I failed. haha

Alex Swan yeah can do I gave one video cutting done super hard stuff but it’s not the best quality. But yeah I had one go the other way not that long ago definitely keeps you honest! I have a mate that has a bloke but won’t tell me his name. I’m a mechanic by trade myself so I have considered doing it myself but would rather someone else haha!

Did you not calibrate the m tronic before you started cutting?
@AlexSwan6 жыл бұрын
Ben Fairhall No, only ever calibrated it once first when I got it new. I thought it was calibrating itself on the fly, it doesn’t?

And I know it’s hot in aus but please invest in a set of chainsaw pants or chaps if your gonna do a bit worth there weight in gold 😊

Ben Fairhall I’ve actually got some chaps but they’re so hot. Yes I know, it’s better to be a little bit sweaty then cutting the main artery on your leg. 😅

At 13:40 on that last tree you also cut through the hinge, you can see the tree let go early. Plus you never look up and you turn your back on the tree. These small things are going to get you injured or worse. That tree was full of widow makers and you would have never seen one coming. Putting videos like this out there puts other people at risk. Those dead branches start to fall when the crown moves, and here you are standing on the stump picking your tools up, and not even watching.

Gday there Alex, just a question why didn’t you get a Ms 661 c-m instead? A few $ more, a bit heavier and a lot more ponies. Best power to weight ratio saw u can buy I think
@AlexSwan6 жыл бұрын
G'day Kyle, good question... I liked the 462 because of its weight and that fact that it was in between a 60cc and 90cc saw. The power of a 90cc beast is nice, but I figured I don't need it. The 462 with that 28" bar will take on anything I ever fall effortlessly. But yeah, weight, design, high revs, responsiveness and the new cool factor made me get it. Having said that, I can always get a 661 in addition to the 462. :) Have you got the 661?
@kylegriffiths85996 жыл бұрын
I’m actually tossing up between the two saws 😂 the little mtm I brought just isn’t gonna cut it when I start milling haha, iv got until next Tuesday to decide
@AlexSwan6 жыл бұрын
Haha yeah those MTMs are good value for the money but there comes a point when they just can't compete with the big boys. Well, for milling and ripping I'd go 661 for sure! You definitely want maximum power instead of a little screamer. ;)
@kylegriffiths85996 жыл бұрын
Yeah that’s what I was thinking, or I could just get a 880 😂😜
@AlexSwan6 жыл бұрын
Haha, well I would totally consider an 880 depending on the amount of milling you intend to do. ;) If you are going to do a lot of milling and that's like 90% of what this saw will be used for... 880 is your friend. :D What's the milling for?

how much bar & chain oil should be used per quart of 2 stroke oil? Any preferences on either? Anyone try using vegetable oil for chain oil? $4/qt for chain oil is enough to get me to use used motor oil or something cheaper, Veg oil is cheap at Sam's Club no env or health concerns.
@melaniecotterell82633 жыл бұрын
veg oil viscosity is about SAE 5 so you use more but it costs much much less plus no sales tax. DO NOT USE VEG OIL IN YOUR FUEL.
@benfairhall53316 жыл бұрын
Well I thought it calibrated depending on the surrounding conditions eg elevation and maybe temp (not sure on temp) but I believe every time you use it you should that’s how I read it out of the manual anyway. If it was none m tronic you’d have to make adjustments on the carb from time to time so I’m guess the calibration is the same. I could be wrong just my understanding
@AlexSwan6 жыл бұрын
Ben Fairhall I will check the manual! Thought the calibration it does completely by itself. You only need to reset the M-tronic when you disconnect the solenoid. 30 seconds idle in cold start setting, then full throttle.
