This is the best Chinese saw I've ever owned. The 22" bar that came with it was junk and really too big for the saw's (lack of) power. The rubber vibration mounts underneath broke up and had to be replaced. The chain brake spring broke so I use it without one. It seems way under-powered in comparison to a 59cc MS311 Stihl. Yet still it has always started and done more work this year than all my huskys and stihls put together!

Hey drop the base gasket, some mild porting and stick a 20 inch bar on. It will run laps around any Stihl chainsaw for 1/10th the price.

Another great video Alex. That was eerie watching you wedge the tree, I've only dropped a couple myself (not as wide in the trunk as this one), first was a disaster and second was perfect, yeah I think I might take company when I drop trees in future after watching this... A work colleague wanted a MTM for his son and had hassles buying it if eBay, so I got it for him. The following week he said get him two more as they collected a shit load of firewood and they were blown away how good the 72 was with the chain and bar supplied. He was a dude that was sceptical about them but now is a mad convert like me hahaha. Keep up the great videos!

Thanks mate, glad you enjoy em! Yeah falling trees in dangerous stuff. I approach it with a lot of respect... well except I wasn't wearing any safety gear on this one. haha That will definitely change now. The MTMs are good hey. It just keeps going and going. I've had another neighbour just get one too, they all love it. I would love to try the 72 version, see how it compares. Sounds like they are all of the same quality. Having said that, the day will come where I get my 562XP. :) Thanks for watching and stay safe.

This guy made me pucker up. I would've strapped on a hard hat & shoulder protection at a minimum. I've seen dead wood fall from a crown & they can hit the ground like a fucking dart. Only takes a bit of wood 6" long & 2" round to smash your skull on contact, or a shoulder blade! Dunno about you guys but I'm no fan of pain!!

Yep, those dead limbs look small from the ground but as in Father Ted "look Dougal, near... faaar away"! Plus when using wedges every whack sends a vibration through the tree. I've been regularly felling for years but still look upon every tree as a widow maker and myself as just an amateur.

Dead trees require a helmet you will knock your block off with a dead limb!

gunlover1955 Yes, I have upgraded in the safety department since. Feels good! Cheers

So where was the "failure" of the MTM chainsaw?? I didn't see anything wrong with the chainsaw? It looked to me like even though you felled the tree, it was maybe not in the easiest direction?
@AlexSwan6 жыл бұрын
It was more of a safety gear fail. haha Even though that was the only direction we could have fallen the tree in due to fencing and other trees around it, it was indeed the direction it was leaning towards. The face cut might have been a tad too deep, maybe that's why it needed a little bit more persuasion with the wedges. Cheers

Alex Swan ok having just bought the MTM 62cc myself, the title had me a little concerned. Title suggested to me at least, that the chainsaw suffered a massive failure. I was expecting to see like a crank or piston coming flying out!

Greg Wilson haha nah, that saw should last you a fair while. Hasn’t let me down yet! 👍🏻

Need a Helmet, saved my cousins life and he is a pro Faller in Northern NSW. Sounds like you got your money's worth out of MTM
@AlexSwan6 жыл бұрын
Yup, totally agree. Next time for sure! Luckily almost all branches were on the front side of the tree and I had Michael spotting me. Glad your cousin is still in one piece! Thanks

That was a really good humbold scarf. It’s by far the easiest one to do until you get more experience as it keeps the bottom of the log flat and is more directional then a standard scarf.( originally done buy saw Miller’s to keep billets flush for milling.

If you are going to cut down trees that size ..you need to understand where to place your back cut...and how to plunge cut your back cut...never wedge a dead tree...and place your back cut lower to the notch
