Inboard engines that I used was 455 high compression Oldsmobile. To me one of the best engines ever made. Jabsco pump, used sea water to cool engine. Power steering no, unnecessary, just regular teleflex, before that, cables and pulleys to the rudder. It's not because of the water Alex, but I'm pretty sure that the outdrives are tougher to move back and forth compared to just a rudder. My boats stayed in the water so I would put a light bulb in the engine box in the winter during freezes. You guessed it, I had the bulb go out and lost an engine before. After that I used those dipstick heaters that keep the oil and the engine warm. You did a great job putting the engine in, my hat's off to you. Hands down brass freeze plugs are the best, even in cars IMO. Also Alex, keep one of those propellers and a nut with you on the boat, an extra belt and a tool box. You never know, if you hit something or run across shallow area, you can damage or even lose the prop (ask me how I know) the spare will get you home. I'll stop babbling now, good video.

The camshaft and the whole valve train on marine engines are a heavy duty, industrial design. Basically because the engines are usually driven at full loads. Propellers will force the boat either left or right if you let go of the wheel. That’s why when there are dual engines one outdrive turns clockwise and the second turns counterclockwise (with a RH or LH prop), and the reason for power steering.

I’m not a boat mechanic first of all so I will start with that. But from what research I have done on my boat, I’m pretty sure you need an alignment tool to get the out drive and motor lined up or your gimbal bearing will wear out. You removed the engine and I would bet it probably is not in the exact same spot as the old one. Anyways, that is just my two cents. I love the boat by the way

I used to own a 2007 Lexus ES 350. I bought it with 87,000 miles on it. The major issues I encountered were the sticky dash and the leaking timing chain cover. The timing chain cover was a recall on the vehicle until 2017. After that, you were on your own. The sticky dash was fixed with a molded dash cover. Great vehicle to own otherwise.
@oz72454 ай бұрын
A simple test that will "in most cases" tell you that you bent a valve after breaking a timing chain or belt is a compression test on all cylinders. Testers are cheap then just remove the spark plugs & test.
