@@AlexTheCarDoctor but you didn't change the oil because i don't see a leak from the drain plug (washer was replaced and properly torqued) as one example. Or - "why does it cost so much to replace a $80 headgasket - that shouldn't cost $3k+ ! are you crazy ! - what a ripoff!" lol
@joewolfe6422 ай бұрын
or my personal favorite "pouring that headgasket fix from autozone will fix it just the same... why didn't you guys just say you could do that instead your trying to rip me off" lol - or another one was replacing plugs and coils - but not seeing wires or distributor cap listed on the service order on a car that had coil on plugs - so apparently we didn't do the tune up right. Just thinking about it gives me a headache.

I inadvertently became a mechanic myself Alex man because there are some sleezy mechanics in this business & if you want your car done right, sometimes you have to do things yourself. So I agree, I’m just a regular guy who got thrusted into being a mechanic. Only on my vehicles though. I don’t have all the fancy scan tools that you have so I just go about it the hood way, process of elimination, starting from cheapest to most expensive. If I’m overheating I change the thermostat, if that doesn’t work the water pump, & vice versa.

i wish i lived near alex as id apply. been wrenching for 30+ yrs non professionally and very capable. am i fast? no but i do things right. thanks to the yt mechanics, ive only gotten better AND faster learning new tips and tricks from them all. those keyboard warriors can go take a hike for giving alex crap for the way he explains things. he explains things so everyday regular people who dont turn wrenches can understand and that goes a looong way with people because they dont know the automotive lingo or understand how systems work. the simpler you can explain something to a customer, the better they will understand the how and why. keep doing the way you do, alex.

I've had vehicles not miss fire at idle or show any miss fire in live data. But under a load and bam. I had a Ford Edge that will only do it under a heavy load like getting on the hwy or almost full throttle. Even if I was sitting still and rev it up, it wouldn't show it. Even power braking it wouldn't show up. Data showed it miss firing on one of the cylinders when I tried getting on the hwy. What got me is it didn't have a check engine light for miss fire. She had other codes not related. But the check engine light would flash during the miss fire under the hard load. Pulled that plug after checking the coil and the spark plug had a crack in the side.

To be fair that guy is correct hydroscopic is definitely a word, and brake fluid is an example of a hydroscopic material. HAVING THE PROPERTY OF ABSORBING AND HOLDING ONTO WATER. But hydroscopic could kinda be used as well . An example of something hygroscopic would be those moisture absorbing beads that comes in beef jerky.

He is correct. However his belligerence was unnecessary because I literally said the same thing. I just didn’t use that word. That is where the problem lies

Maybe he meant to type something different but the hydroscopic brake fluid got on his skin and he couldn’t type right through the tingling. 😂 Obviously you don’t worry, but still don’t worry bout those commenters. When they focus on one minuet detail like that just shows they don’t really have great knowledge on the subject. They just learned one word and two details about it and think they can sound knowledgeable while putting others down.
