This is why I got off the road 16 years ago and been doing local ever since. It was too many long days sitting at warehouses getting unloaded or loaded. You would kill a whole Wednesday sitting at a dock doing nothing but waiting for a green light.

With an air ride or air slide trailer like you had you don’t have to get out to reset the pins. Just push the trailer button and the air will push the pins out.

Alex, did you know that after you slide the tandems, all you have to do is just release the trailer brakes the the pins will automatically engage

Really? I didnt know that. Ive been driving 2 years and Ive only had 1 trailer that used the push button tandem locks. My company bought them once then sold all because they had a lot of reliability issues.

It only works on new trailers to release the trailer breaks and lock the pins… if u have the pull bar to release them it doesn’t work.

Well that, and pulling the trolley valve, and also constantly apply BOTH brake valves all the time drives me freaking NUTS! lol. But i enjoy his content otherwise. Just oof. Drives me crazy

There is the confident Alex! And remember, when backing into dock doors, check to see if their ramp from the door into the trailer will work. Then you good. You dont have to be perfectly straight. (Took me a while to learn that cuz I like to be parked just right too!

Dont let it discourage you. There's all types of jobs. I used to work for the same company as Alex and I tried to get him to go to a certain dedicated account before he quit. He thought dedicated meant you only went back and forth between 2 places, but that's not usually true. I go all over the eastern USA, but im "dedicated" to a specific broker. So I dont have to worry about getting paid by the mile. I get paid a flat rate per day, and there's a guaranteed minimum per week. I used to get stuck at lots of bad customers on that account, but I didnt care. I could be driving ir i could be playing my PS4 or watching Netflix...same pay. I made $65k in my first year of driving. I'll make over $70k this year. And I only do dry van with no endorsements. If I were younger I'd get a bunch of endorsements and make a LOT more.

Cant remember exactly what specific specialty, but something to do with neurology, I think. Anyway, he's part of a business with 2 other Drs and his income was listed at $360,000 USD per year.

You know all you have to do is release the brakes and you won't have to get back out to push the button in for the pins. The trailer brake in the tractor also works for that as well.

@@migavel1223 OTR and Regional are pretty fun at the start. But then it gets lame real fast after you miss a few birthdays or holidays. It's also normal to jump ship from your starter company after getting 1-2 years of experience anyways. In other words, give OTR a try and if you don't like it you can switch later.

Gotta watch that "Tail Swing". I've seen so many frontends ripped off from guys pulling out of the stops in the mornings. Also, keep eye on your 5th wheel lock during Pre-Trip & make sure that trailer is locked in after a night sleeping. Guys will pull it, playing pranks. Unless you have a locking 5th wheel. I've seen a few guys pull out & dump their trailers when I was driving.
