Code 3 response video!!! Pickup truck in the median and semi jack-knifed in the barrier cables. How will we untangle this mess. I wasn't sure I was going to get this video done for this week. OUR NEW GRANDCHILD MADE HIS ENTRY INTO THE WORLD THIS WEEK!!! We are so Blessed and want to thank everyone for the prayers, thoughts, and well wishes. It has been an emotional rollercoaster of a week, but our daughter, grandson, and son-in-law are all safe and healthy. That's all we can ask for............ Thanks for watching and God bless.

That caught me off guard too. Here in the state of KY, I've only ever seen air horns on a Wrecker, and those seem to be rarely used outside of parades.

@@J19_vlogger74 Missouri has a unique law on tow trucks that if they are employed by a public department or if they are responding to an emergency (which Ron is here as requested by the Scotts City PD), tow trucks can use red and blue emergency lights to expedite the arrival to help clear traffic better. If they do use the emergency lights, they are required by law to use a siren for safety, but only can use the lights and siren while responding to these emergency calls. Ron said in a more recent video, red and blues when responding and at the scene, but ambers when leaving. Its honestly a unique law that almost no other states have. Here in Virginia, you would catch a felony charge of police impersonation if you tried this. I do like the concept of responding code to high-risk accidents that need to be cleared asap for safety purposes, but other than that I don't see a reason for tow trucks to have the police/fire equipment as they are not actual first responders and this could be seen as easily abused.

Since I do not do anything close to what Ron Pratt does, and actually I like watching these videos, and learn how it gets done, I have no suggestions

He's played that game before kinda. Fact is; old school analog methods are still effective, and considerably cheaper. So many things go wrong with coms; especially in the high noise environment these guys operate in. Ron seems to run a pretty efficient shop. His guys are observant, responsive, professional and for the most part, know exactly what they're doing without Ron. Ron's the guy who's responsible for the big picture, so his guys follow his lead. But most the time Ron's just shouting something these guys already know to do, or is among a small list of options they were going to do anyway. They don't need to hear every word; they can easily interpret garbled shouts and pantomime and go 'oh, yeah he wants me there and to do this; Got it boss'

Around here a lot of tow trucks run their flashing lights all the time whether they’re going to an emergency call or just going down the road with a car loaded so I think people just don’t take them seriously. @@DVeck89 Unfortunately, there are a LOT of towing operators and other industry's drivers who overuse the amber lights so that most people have become immune, or ignore them. There are also tow ops in Missouri who abuse the red/blue lights and sirens. Of course, I know volunteer fire personnel and police officers who "misuse" their lights and sirens as well, so it isn't JUST tow ops. Anyway, I could go on and on about this subject, but I won't. Here in the USA, not all vehicle recovery agencies can run red and blue lights and sirens. Some states allow recovery vehicles to run lights and sirens, others allow red and blues on an accident scene, while others do not allow anything but amber lights while on a scene or with a recovered vehicle(s). In Florida: * Only law enforcement are allowed to operate flashing blue lights and sirens * EMS, Fire, and a couple other agencies are allowed to use flashing red lights and sirens. * Vehicle recovery, oversized loads, vehicle escorts for oversized loads, and a couple others are allowed to operate flashing amber lights without sirens. * Road maintenance and general construction can operate flashing white lights without sirens. * Private security typically uses flashing green lights without sirens while on private property (not mandated in state statutes). www.flsenate.gov/laws/statutes/2011/316.2397 316.2397 Certain lights prohibited; exceptions.- (1) No person shall drive or move or cause to be moved any vehicle or equipment upon any highway within this state with any lamp or device thereon showing or displaying a red or blue light visible from directly in front thereof except for certain vehicles hereinafter provided. (2) It is expressly prohibited for any vehicle or equipment, except police vehicles, to show or display blue lights. However, vehicles owned, operated, or leased by the Department of Corrections or any county correctional agency may show or display blue lights when responding to emergencies. (3) ...Wreckers, mosquito control fog and spray vehicles, and emergency vehicles of governmental departments or public service corporations may show or display amber lights when in actual operation or when a hazard exists provided they are not used going to and from the scene of operation or hazard without specific authorization of a law enforcement officer or law enforcement agency. Wreckers must use amber rotating or flashing lights while performing recoveries and loading on the roadside day or night, and may use such lights while towing a vehicle on wheel lifts, slings, or under reach if the operator of the wrecker deems such lights necessary...

In the UK only Police, Fire, Ambulance, lifeboats, mountain/cave rescue and EOD teams can run blue lights and sirens. Some use a mix of flashing red and blue to the rear only with red and white mixed to the front (red lights to the front are illegal as are white to the rear unless reversing ) Doctors are officially allowed to use flashing green lights but I have never actually seen one use them (the only doctors who would actually have use for them generally use the same vehicle as a fast response paramedic which are classified as ambulances) Flashing Amber is used by any vehicle that by the nature of its work could cause a hazard or obstruction on the roads. Tow trucks fall under this as do most road construction vehicles, garbage trucks and various other bits and pieces. If we need a tow truck to be expedited to a scene they would generally get a police escort. One exception to the normal rules is that highways agency traffic officers (traffic patrol without any police powers, mainly concerned with wrecks, broken-down vehicles and moving debris off the motorway) have Amber light bars that have red and Amber to the rear (the only people to use red and Amber mixed) I think they might also have sirens although I have never heard one use it

You need one on your roll back now lol. Anyways thank you for what you do its a very dangerous job. May God bless & protect you & EVERYONE who works at Midwest Truck. ✝️

Mounting on the steering wheel would require some form of a flexible electrical connection. Something like a trigger switch on the gearshift knob would be technically simpler.... Hmmmm..... they make gearshift switches for enabling / disabling Jake brakes... .... maybe Ron could mount one on the shifter and wire it to the Q...
