Hey bro it's cool that you want to use the Te Reo pronunciation - we are all trying to make a collective effort atm to also do the same Just FYI how you're saying it is a little bit off. Au in Te Reo is an OE sound and the Ō is like a AW. So Taupō is like Toe-Paw. Just double-check with any Kiwis you meet. Funnily enough, generally the younger Kiwis are better at pronouncing as they study it at primary school now.

This instruction is almost useless because Americans pronounce the a sound in paw differently. They do it with a more open mouth so it so it sounds more like awe. We have a more closed mouth so it sounds like ore. A better instruction would be to tell them to say toe-pore
@classicjonesy3 жыл бұрын
I thought it was Toe Poor is how I pronounce it
@michaelheliotis52793 жыл бұрын
@@classicjonesy It's Toe-paw if you say the word 'paw' with a NZ accent, just as it's also Toe-poor, because 'paw' and 'poor' are homonyms with a NZ accent. Unfortunately, Alex has an American accent, which means that neither the way he says 'paw' or 'poor' are the proper pronunciation. If one doesn't pronounce the letter R, then the word 'poor' will indeed be the closest approximation.

Hey Alex and Carrie again welcome home guys, we really appreciate the fact you spent an extra week in insolation to be certain you were clear, thank you for diligence. Alex, your Maori pronunciation will get better lol, I hope. Guys try not to be too anxious now your out and about, you pretty damn safe, allow yourselfs to slow right down and enjoy yourselfs. If you make to Christchurch, drop a word on your posts and I would be keen to meet you both and give you a tour of our great little town, so eat fresh, walk much, breathe deep, and live well.

Welcome back to NZ. Have been really enjoying your videos. I bet you are counting the days until you are both able to be reunited with Lanka. Watching your channel make me realise how much more of our country I need to visit and enjoy. I guess we don't appreciate it enough and tend to sometimes take it for granted. Greetings from Canterbury.

Awesome. My family and I are having serious discussions about returning back to NZ. I am kiwi and my wife is Swiss. my oldest was born in NZ and our second in Switzerland. We were on holiday in winter 2019 to visit our family and my girls had an instant connection to NZ, especially my oldest. Upon returning back to Switzerland, she always kept asking if there was a possibility of returning back. I think it's always been an itch that needed to be scratched. Some discussions have been made and of course a lot of major decisions need to be made but it is a possibility. But this itch has become more prevalent in our thinking that it is starting to take hold. Your current videos have also provided a necessary outlook on the expectations. Chur bro.

You make me homesick and memories of my hikes in the New Zealand wilderness when I was in the army. There were moments of those army hiking experience that you could swear you were one with Mother Nature. Great vlog bro looking forward to more. One of the best army hiking experiences that I had was around the foot of Mt. Ruapehu, we had run out of water so we got to this stream where the water was coming off the mountain, when we drank from it, it was like nectar from the gods. The water was so pure you could just bottle it straight from the stream and sell it. A great memory for life. Kia kaha bro enjoy your travels around the country of Aoteoroa 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽😎
