Being the massive Simpsons fan that I am and that I have played every Simpsons game apart from the Acclaim games, I actually really enjoyed the game despite how terrible it was. I got in touch with a former Big Ape designer and he gave me a lot of info on the game. -Big Ape Productions were really excited to work on the game. -A planned but removed arena called Springfield Elementary was cut due to the Columbine Shootings. -There was a lot of problems with the producer and he left midway through development leaving the team to make their own decisions. -The original select screen was supposed to be 3D and the characters could talk to each other and smack each other. This was dropped and used still images for the select screen instead. -It was sadly rushed. -He is aware of the games reputation and admits its a bad game but says it was a learning experience and some people still contact him saying how they enjoy it.

I ended up trading it to a friend for another game, because he was obsessed with the Simpsons and could even draw exactly like Matt Groening. No idea what game I got in return, but I remember at the time it was a much better and more expensive game so it was a good deal.

Theory: why is The Simpsons Wrestling so bad with its... well, wrestling? Simple: it's because none of the playable characters are trained professional wrestlers, so obviously they wouldn't have a clue what to do once they got in the ring aside from things from possible snippets of wrestling they might have been exposed to.

I'd of definitely liked a family guy wrestling game they actually have fights in the show so it more of a hit for them than the Simpsons especially if they made itnstead of the back to the multiverse game and made family guy wrestling with every single character in there but make it a good game and feel like a wrestling game

I dunno when I against played Flanders ai I felt he was kind of easy. The only thing annoying was the flying forever bibles, and him having two lives. His lightning was pretty easily avoided. If any I felt late stage Lisa was harder then most bosses. If you rng her early she was easy, but if you got her late say like 1 fight before the last boss she was insanely hard. Between constant stun locking from sax spams, and being invulnerable every time she latch on and bite you she was a pain in the butt. More so then Flanders ever was lol.

0:25 - There's actually an episode of The Simpsons where Bart finds out Abe Simpson used to be a Gorgeous George-esque pro wrestler called Glamorous Godfrey back in the 50s... This leads Bart to become a wrestling heel himself called Beautiful Bart. It's honestly a pretty good episode for being so late in the show's run (it's in season 24). I might be a bit biased just because i'm a wrestling fan myself - But I thought it was fun, and I usually hate modern Simpsons.

As someone who has played both, Wrestling on an emulator and Skateboarding on the PS2, Skateboarding is way better. I completed Skateboarding and had a relatively good time with it. Once you understand the mechanics and how the game works, it's actually quite fun and unique. Wrestling on the other hand isn't good. The controls are whack, the moves are awful, the A.I is bad and just overall a bad experience. Genuinely one of the worst games I've played.

I remember getting this game for my Birthday one year and I completed everything in it and it’s quite easy to do. Play as Willie in the “starters cup” and spam the trap attack to beat all the other opponents, then at the end of every cup you unlock a character, use that newly unlocked character in every next cup and they all have a move which perfect for spamming then winning with Flanders God smiting being over powered as heck. Absolute awful game but I remember more of it than most games I played in my childhood some how.

I mean almost every game is a different genre, I really don't get why wrestling would be out of place next to the car games and the platformers and the skateboarding games. I had this as a kid and... well no, nostalgia doesn't save it. And I actually thought it was a bit older, so I get the 'worst game' thing even more. Also the toast hammer made me giggle.

I consider this as a Fighting Game with a bit of Wrestling. Decent Controls Decent Graphics Decent Gameplay. Pretty Balanced but this game is really fun to play and that's why I love this game. I really don't understand why people hating this game. Ah yeah because of Graphics. Is that what matters for you when you look at Video Games? I always look at Gameplay First and I think it's pretty decent. It doesn't deserve the hate.

I remember getting this game when my mom bought a used PS1 and some games from some family friends. I tried it, liked it for a few days and got burned out on it. Next time I was over at their house I tried to give it back and the kid who owned it initially didn't want it. Funny story. I begged my mom to buy me this game as I was a huge Simpsons Fan but never heard of Wrestling. I enjoyed it and had so much fun with it. Playing as Willy and hammering everybody with his rake. Fastforward to 2005 and I glimpsed an Episode of Smackdown and the mexicools are the first wrestlers I ever saw and they came down on lawnmowers and gardening equipment. I was instantly super hooked and still am a huge wrestling fan but since then never have seen the use of gardening equipment ever again.

ok im gonna give my humble and 3th world opinion, but this game gives me actually pretty good memories as a child, here in chile the ps1 was insane, but for the wrong reasons, the piracy. The games here during that days were so cheap that sometimes games come in a pack of 3 or 5 disc, but that was only in the big cities, not my case, because i remember being in groups of 7 or 9 kids in the hood waiting and watchin how each others plays and having such a great time, but when everyone gets tired of playing wining eleven or mk or gran turismo, yes, there it comes this game. And was fun for us as little kids only 4 or 6 years old, i remember making jokes about bart beating marge, and saying "WILLIE IS SO FUCKIN BROKEN NOBODY HAVE TO PLAY IT", so yeah this game is shit, but for some kids in a little city of a little country this game gives some great play nights

U missed some of the moves when you're jumping on opponents head, you can press triangle and circle as well for different attacks, if u do circle it knocks the opponent down also when you grab you can do the same thing.. U can go and use the knocback from the ring to combine it with square triangle or circle and knock ur opponent down or stun them

I will say I disagree with the idea that a wrestling game out of the Simpsons was a bad idea from its core. Hit and Run honed in on some of the crazy driving and all the vehicles in the Simpsons, but that's hardly what the Simpsons is "about". But it was a perfectly good framework to hang a game around these characters. Meanwhile, I could absolutely see an episode where Springfield starts getting into backyard wrestling. It's far more likely than say, the story in the Simpsons Arcade Game. Mr. Burns isn't really likely to steal a diamond from a diamond store. Plus Simpsons games tend to be at their best when they're applying the Simpsons spin other games in order to parody them. Like SImpsons Hit and Run. Though I think Wrestling missed the mark on that one. Not defending the game, just playing devil's advocate on the premise.
