I absolutely loved this game as a kid, before you were old enough to look up reviews online you just got better at the shit controls and didn't think about it too much
@TXFDA2 жыл бұрын
I mean, that's being a kid for ya. Especially back in the day when you had to rely on magazines to give you some idea about games. Or just relying entirely on if the box looked cool. You'd get a game, and you'd deal with it, whether it was bad or not, because that's the game you got. I mean, one of my favorite games growing up, was Enter the Matrix on PS2. And by all accounts, that game is considered a pile of hot garbage. The graphics weren't great, the animations were pretty bad, the controls kinda sucked, the story was nonsense. But I liked Matrix, saw the game in the store, and begged my parents to get it for me. I got it, played it, and ended up really enjoying it, despite all the jank. I rented countless games from Blockbuster that were horrible, but I put up with it, because what else was I gonna do? Make my parents drive back to Blockbuster to rent me another game? No, I was gonna play the hell out of the game I got, and I was gonna force myself to like it. And most of the time, I figured out how to work around the bad parts and did actually enjoy it.

1. You couldn't be more wrong about nobody wanting the game. Hell, I think any non-WWE wrestling game with a decent budget would have excited a lot of fans, but a game where we had the likes of AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels, Samoa Joe, etc. - with what were pretty solid graphics for the time, match types we'd never had in a game before, and a real story mode? Hell, I remember a lot of fans being pretty stoked. Could it have been better? Hell yeah, but a) I assume they were planning on this being the first of a series, giving them time to add things like more match types and greater move variety (building a new wrestling engine from the ground up isn't going to catch up with WWE games adding a bit every year over decades - which has me a bit scared about the upcoming AEW game) , and b) something being disappointing when it actually arrived and something being unwanted in the first place are VERY different ideas. 2. People thought TNA would be a threat to WWE? Who? Were you even there are paying attention, or are you just taking the word of some fanboys? Nobody with a clue thought that was true. At best we were hoping for them to find a footing like what AEW has now as a reputable, survivable alternative, but even that never felt like they even got all that close to it. At it's peak, around the time they signed with Spike TV and started poaching talent like Kurt Angle they felt like maybe half of what AEW does now, with some hope for the future, and that died a miserable death very shortly after once Hogan got involved and they started thinking they were bigger than they were (cue move to Monday.) Even AEW isn't a threat to WWE, and TNA at their absolute biggest had nothing on AEW.
